It was another visit to a new restaurant and this time we chose Caf Silvium which is a family-owned Italian Restaurant located in the center of Stamford. This is a wonderful warm cozy restaurant where you are greeted by the owner or family when entering the dining room. We had five-oclock reservations because they were booked up the rest of the evening on a Wednesday night. That is impressive. We did not order any appetizers but we did enjoy their homemade pasta rigatoni dish; ingredients included prosciutto, pancetta and sausage; Wonderful! The Gamberetti a Modo Tuo was also very good. Then the homemade Grappa was awesome. The price to eat here is incredibly reasonable.
I’ve heard nothing but positive comments about this place. Guess I’m in the minority. I tried it last night & was very disappointed. We ordered the Giulio Cesare (caesar salad with grilled chicken) , Fettuccine al Mascarpone (shrimp, spinach, fettucine & mascarpone cheese) & a special Granchi alla Francese (soft shell crab in a white wine lemon sauce). To start with, the salad was nothing special. No distinctive cheese or lemon flavor. It was so basic it could have been from a shopping center with a squeeze dressing. Even the croutons were dull. The shrimp marscapone was the best dish, although it wasn’t all that special. The soft shell crab francese coating was extremely salty & appeared more like a pancake. The texture was odd & again it was not very flavorful. For a restaurant that’s packing them in & so well talked about, I was not impressed. Hard to recommend.
Solid as it gets. My Gf and I love coming to Cafe Silvium. Always very good southern italian food. Wine list a ok, plenty of reasonably priced wines. Delicious food, ample portions, and some of the best service in fairfield county. We havent been in a few months, but my server (Chris) knew EXACTLY what we wanted. I highly encourage/recommend Cafe Silvium to everyone. Cheers 🙂
Stamford’s hidden gem. Quality, presentation and staff are fabulous. My favorite dish is shrimp scampi, not on the menu, but they will prepare the most incredible dish that you will never forget.I have a friend that drives from Long Beach to Cafe Silvium at least once a month.Food: excellentQuality: everything is freshWait staff: Excellent / experienced / no turnoverPrice: well worth the $$$Reservations: recommended
The staple of food. Forget the downtown fake restaurants only spring up to grab ur $ this place is legit. Their food is light tasty simple mouth watering and not a feather on your pocket. The service is friendly as well!!
Awesome Italian!. Great Italian food here at a Cafe Silvium. It’s very cute and quaint inside, too. The menu is set up like restaurants in Italy, too. Worth the trip! omnomct.com
Best italian in town. This is a cozy family place, you can feel the love in every dish you taste. I could make a meal just of the beans and bread served as an appetizer, so tasty. Fried calamari, spaghetti with shrimp and asparagus, and ricotta cheesecake is what i typically get and it is perfect.
