Disappointing if you’re looking for good seafood. Service was quick and efficient but the food, meh. Barramundi Timbale, a white Australian fish similar to sole, was smothered in an unctious cream sauce with mushrooms, capers and lobster bits that needed seasoning. It needed salt. The fish portion was a decent size but the plate was overloaded with undercooked sweet potato fries. Another special, swordfish with basil pesto, looked horrendous on the plate (a fish steak lying in a bright red pool of something with a layer of what looked like refried beans but must have been the pesto sauce. Lobster bisque looked like Campbells Tomato Soup that had been left out all day. Other diners had better luck with the lobster roll (lobster meat with drawn butter) and crab cakes that looked burned but were otherwise edible. An appetizer of Cajun Shrimp was the most successful dish, with a boatload of small fried shrimps nice seasoned and two dipping sauces. The place is usually packed, so I assume people come for the after-work drink . It can’t be the food.
The lobster bisque is awesome
Went here in the summer time and ended up with a table outside which would’ve been nice if the music wasn’t so loud. The band that played was horrible and the speakers sounded like they were busted. I couldn’t have any conversation with my group. Also very very crowded, but hey, the food was good.
Our night at the Crab Shell. We went there for dinner. I had 3 beers but when the bill came I was billed for 4. I called the waiter over and pointed this out. He insisted that I had 4 beers. I again told him that it was 3. He proceeded to get in my face and tell my I was wrong and insisted that I had 4. He told me it was in the computer and the beer would not have been listed if it hadn’t been served. Apparently we were dealing with the HAL 9000 computer from 2001, A Space Odyssey. He told me that he could not change the bill, only the manager could. I called his bluff and said to send the manager over. The Manager grudgingly took the 4th beer off the bill. If this is your idea of a fun night then this is the place for you!!
Great outdoor patio on the water! We tried the raw oysters, lobster roll, fish tacos and calamaris. Oysters were okay, we had much better ones at other places. The lobster roll was interesting. It came on a regular piece of toast, rolled up. If you like your fish tacos grilled, they normally come fried, so you might want to ask the waiter if they can change it. Overall, food was okay, but it’s a great place to sit out and chill on a beautiful day.
Food here sucks. Go here to have a few drinks on the deck. Know what you’re getting yourself into and do not try and eat here. YoU will be upset you did. Also, don’t go here on Sundays in the summer. every guido in a 30 mile radius is there smelling like Hilfiger cologne and wearing Armani Exchange. Jersey shore lands in Connecticut.
Go for the environment or drinks. The food was just OK. The perfect weather and outdoor seating made up for it.
