Visited restaurant for lunch. Very good selection of BBQ offerings, as one would expect. Very substantial portion sizes – keep that in mind.We had BBQ Poutine and Fried Green Tomatoes as a starter – both excellent, tomatoes served with a tasty dipping sauce; Poutine was very generous in size, served with pulled pork. I had BBQ beef melt sandwich, which was excellent. The small portion of ribs was outstanding, with lots of meat. BBQ cobs salad was also very tasty.Very good, prompt and attentive service. (1/15/2018) Came by for happy hour and to check out the Harbor Point neighborhood. Interesting gentrification happening on one side of the street and a lag on the other. Dinosaur BBQ is a shiny new addition with a huge parking lot surrounded by spanking new condos and corporate office space for rent. Not sure who is snapping up all this condo space, but certainly there’s a building boom going on. Dinosaur BBQ is a self described blues and biker bar chain predominantly on the east coast. I’ve been to a few and have heard neither blues nor seen bikers. In the spot we were in Connecticut, it was mostly yuppy white dudes at the bar. The happy hour prices are good and food for selection even better. Decent Q, some decent smoke and char (a lot of char) on the wings, which were jerk rubbed and flavorful, but very, very, dry. Deviled Eggs (6 for $6) were filled tall, tasty enough, something a little odd, maybe something in the Creole spice, like dried thyme. Fried Green Tomatoes had a nice crispy, crackly cornmeal crusted, melted pecorino seemed superfluous and formed kind of a dried cheese cage on top after it cooled a bit, but seasoned well, and we liked the garlicky ranch dressing on the side. The Dino Poutine also tasty, we miss the cheese curds, the pimiento cheese kind of melted into the hot, thin, brown beef gravy; didn’t catch much of the cracklins or pickled jalapenos, which would have had some welcome interest in the gooey pile. The best of the spread was the Dino Sliders, we chose the Korean BBQ Pork Belly with chow chow, really nicely charred, tender fatty pork slices, highly seasoned, sweet-savory with the tart crunchy pickled vegetables as a foil. Service was very friendly and efficient, we were well tended to. Decent place for BBQ if you don’t have a local southern joint I suppose (which might be hard to come by in New England).

Could not wait to check out the new location. Did not make reservations so I waited the 45 minutes for the next table in the dining room. Got the app sampler for 4. The peel and shrimp were good and the creole eggs were a repeat. To give me an idea of the varieties I ordered the 3 platter of pulled pork, ribs and brisket. I thought the brisket was dry and not much flavor. The pulled pork was good. They allow you to put the sauce on yourself so the worry of swimming in BBQ sauce was not there. Ribs had a nice bark, visible smoke ring and were moist. Atmosphere was good and a fun place to check out the extensive beer menu. Many trips will be needed to get through this variety of local and national selections.
Service great, food great :). So, we went back on a busy Friday night. Still, at past 10, there was a 30 minute late…people need their Dinosaur! 🙂 We regretfully decided to wait and walked over the the bar. A bright and cheery server, Danielle, asked if we’d like to take a seat in the back area. Um, YEAH! So, we headed back to the lounge area and had our food and beer. Brisket was still amazing. Liked the fried green tomatoes…actually surprised we liked them with cheese sprinkled on top. Lots of beer available, too. We had Ommegang Witte in a pitcher for just $22. Pretty nice.05 Dec, 2012Finally Open!. Opens today at 5 pm! We went for a sneak peek last night and really enjoyed ourselves. Of greatest note were the brisket, the pulled pork, the mac and cheese, and the beer list. This is going to be a great spot! omnomct.com
