Order the breakfast burrito with chili. Oh, I’m sorry….we’re you expecing more information? Because you don’t need to know anything else than to order the breakfast burrito with chili.

Straightforward menu/good food. Close to the Merritt PKWY, the Lakeside Diner is a small cozy place with no-nonsense service, albeit friendly, and good food. When you enter, you’ll be directed to one of a few formica-topped tables with a view of the lake through expansive windows. We were there at lunchtime but plenty of patrons were ordering pancakes. The egg salad on marble rye was stuffed with egg salad — cold, creamy and flavorful. The marble rye was excellent — dense bread slightly toasted and with a hearty rye flavor. I added a tomato slice for about 60 cents but it wasn’t worth it because the tomato didn’t really have any flavor. My dinner companion had the Italian Wedge — basically Italian coldcuts, cheese, peppers and dressing on a good Italian roll. Save room for the donuts. They’re cake donuts — very fresh and not greasy.

Awful and rude. The donuts and the view are great but that’s where it ends. I ordered a mushroom and Swiss omelette with home fries. The omelette was huge but it must have been cooked on high heat because the outside was burnt and the inside ingredients were raw. The home fries were like mashed potatoes, mushy and lumpy with no taste to them. The toast was dry as a board with no butter in sight. The waitress boxed us into a corner table which had a great view of the lake but made for terrible service. My husband had a massive portion of blueberry pancakes, even the short stacks are massive. He thought it was okay. The owner was rude. We had to squeeze out to pay the bill. I didn’t want to pay for my meal but my husband didn’t feel like fighting over it. When I politely told the owner that her donuts were good but my meal was terrible, she shrugged, gave me a terrible face and walked away. Never, ever again will we go here. Terrible place, small and dingy and the view is simply not enough to make up for the food and terrible attitude. Our waitress was sweet so we did tip her but it’s just a terrible place. Go to the Springdale diner instead.

Best Breakfast in Stamford. Go here and get omelettes, pancakes, and their homemade donuts!!! This place is a classic in Stamford and rules. Great Breakfast or Lunch. Food has remained consistent for 20 years. Grade of A.
