Bland, overcooked and overpriced. Ordered the Sampler Platter ($14.95) and Enchilada Platter ($10.95). Delivery took twice as long as I was told (however, it was a Friday night) and the food wasn’t all that great. Leftovers containing corn tortillas and cheese stuck to the foam containers after overnight refrigeration and had to be pried off, never had that happen before. Sampler Platter contained a chicken enchilada, nachos, beef and chicken quesadillas topped with lettuce, tomato and sour cream. It was impossible to tell what was what because everything was kind of smooshed together in the sectioned foam container. Chicken Enchiladas were bland, meat was overcooked and greasy, as was the yellow rice. Beans were very good though.I ordered from the older menu I got several months ago, and prices have gone up on some items, like the Enchilada Platter. I know downtown Stamford restaurants have gotten very pricey over the past few years, but I expect better quality food for $11-$15 for a takeout entree. There is also a $3.00 delivery charge.
Surprisingly flavorful food and a bargain. I don’t usually order Central or South American food for take out ,but in the past month I have sampled Tacos Guadalajara’s takeout menu and I think their food is pretty good and a great value for the price.. They have platters from $8.99 and up that are loaded with the entree, mashed pinto beans and shredded iceberg and tomato (and a cute tiny Mexican Flag toothpick stuck inside). Chicken and beef enchiladas are passable, as are tamales, but the Arroz con Pollo was outstanding: I don’t know how they cook their chicken, but it is the moistest, most flavorful and tender chicken I have ever tasted. If that is the only thing you ever order from TG, get the chicken. The beans are delicious too.
This place isn’t awful, but it’s not any good either. The chips are very boring, and the tacos were lacking any filling. The one plus is the salsa was REALLY good. Too bad the chips were not. Won’t be back.
