We occasionally take colleagues and clients to Grants for dinner. And have enjoyed lunch on the patio as well. Quaint, elegant, good service, great food! It’s always a home run!

My date and I were seated right away on a Saturday night which was great, it wasn’t too crowded at all, but now I take this as a sign since surrounding restaurants all had lengthy wait times. Once we were seated the service was extremely rushed. My date ordered the prime rib and the waiter walked off without even asking how he would like it cooked. The food was brought out not even 10 minutes later and as a result the prime rib was not done, and the baked potato it came with wasn’t fully cooked. I ordered the scallops and those were good, but my date was sorely disappointed with his food. We were out of the restaurant in half an hour which was just unacceptable for the price we paid; we should not have felt as rushed as we did and as a result I do not recommend eating here.
Bad service, good food. Our reservations were at 8pm on Saturday night, we arrived and were told that there were 5 parties ahead of us but it would only be a 15 minute wait. The hostesses told us to wait in the bar (which is very loud with pop music) and they would call us. We checked back with them 20 minutes later to be told that people had received their checks but were not leaving. It wasn’t until 9:30pm that we were brought to our table in the middle of the crowded floor and to find the table cloth dirty, the hostess asked us to step aside while they changed it, and as we waited there was a booth getting prepped, so we asked to sit there and they accommodated. Hostesses were impolite and curt. It is a shame because the food was very delicious. However, the manager nor any other member of the staff ever made it over to us to apologize for the incredibly long wait. For being considered upscale dining, they really need to work on proper etiquette. If you don’t mind getting pushed around and told to wait for an unreasonable amount of time, then try it out. The tuna tartare was phenomenal!
Just A Great Restaurant. We’ve never had any food at Grant’s that wasn’t excellent.That’s pretty impressive, considering we’ve been there probably half a dozen times and also brought a group of friends and relatives for a family party once also. Our most recent experience was a stop in for lunch after a quick shopping trip to West Hartford. We just needed a quick pick me up and a drink before heading home.I ordered a gnocchi dish with lamb in a dark, rich sauce – probably because we make homemade gnocchi and I wanted to sample it. My wife ordered the salad with crispy duck. Honestly, I’m not a salad-as-a-meal guy, but it was delicious. The duck was succulent, crisp and just remarkable. I was envying her salad!My gnocchi were similarly delicious. Rich and flavorful, the sauce was the perfect thing for a cold autumn day.You can’t go wrong at Grant’s!
Lemon chicken was cooked just right… Tender and skin was crispy! Desserts are some of the best around. Very expensive if you plan to get apps and desserts, but it is SO worth it.
