Amazing place with a very fresh and soothing ambience. This was my first time to this place and I must say was very impressed by the service and the taste of the food. A must try there would be Vietnamese cold coffee and peprish with chicken. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
This place was awful. In addition to being extremely overpriced, the food was not properly prepared. I had a medium-well burger (at nearly $14) that was bright pink/red throughout, and corn on the cob that was raw on the end because of the way they decoratively left half of the husk on. The risotto was not fit to eat. It was undercooked and unseasoned, like eating watery, crunchy rice boiled in tap water with fruit and sage thrown on top. Finally, we waited for nearly 20 minutes for our check, as the waitstaff began to clear all the outdoor tables 30 minutes before close.Aaand, we paid over $60 for the meal. Wish I was making this up, but unfortunately, the only attraction this ‘cafe’ has to offer is the pond nearby.
Mediocre. We went for the Sunday brunch on Father’s Day/Rose Garden Weekend and though we had requested an outside table when making our Open Table reservation, non were available. The hostess could not tell us how long the wait would be so we accepted an inside table. A large group was celebrating so the noise level due to intermittent screams from a pair of children was very high. My wife ordered the strawberry/rhubarb French toast which was 2 slices of relatively thin bread and a smear of spread. My Pond House Benedict was prepared with a base of dense corn bread, topped by a very thin crab cake, egg and finally Hollandaise sauce. The corn bread was too thick vis a vis the crab cake and the potatoes were served at room temperature. Overall, given the price points, our dining experience was mediocre.
The setting is amazing. I went for Sunday brunch and had an omelet, cornbread, and potatoes. The potatoes were undercooked, but everything else was fabulous. A reservation is highly recommended… also, if it is very hot, you might want to sit inside in the air conditioning; don’t worry, you can still see the pond from inside.
