Not much has changed. On our last visit 3 years ago my wife and I were disappointed by the Greek sampler plate so we did not feel compelled to return until recently when a Groupon was offered. Ours was nearing the expiration date so we arrived on a Wednesday at around 6:30PM. Parking is very limited and signs in nearby parking lots warn that parking is restricted to their customers. After waiting for awhile, we finally secured a spot. We seated ourselves in the narrow section of the restaurant to the right of the main dining room. The noise level was painfully loud as if seemed everyone was competing to be heard. Adding to our discomfort was the air conditioning which seemed to be blowing on our table. The online menu does not warn that the sampler plate is only offered only on Monday & Tuesdays (see my prior review), but undeterred we effectively created our own sampler plate by sharing each others entrees. I chose the lamb kabob platter which included a single skewer of lamb, rice pilaf, pita, tomato onion relish, a Greek salad and tzatzki sauce. My wife chose the spanikopita plate which included a copious amount of rice pilaf while adding a Greek salad for an additional $2.99. Once again the Greek salad was tasty, but the inclusion of iceberg lettuce proved to be a turnoff. Given the price points, we both felt the portion size of the lamb and spanikopita were small and neither scaled any culinary heights. On the plus side, each of the 2 servers in our section were in process of training new personnel so we enjoyed very good service throughout. It likely will be another 3 years before we will return.24 Sep, 2011Disappointing. It has been a few years since our last visit so I was looking forward to ordering the Greek sampler plate that is offered on Monday and Tuesdays. The restaurant was only 1/2 full which surprised me. The sampler includes a very large Greek salad that was tasty, but I was disappointed because the lettuce used was iceberg. Our sampler plates included rice, pita, chicken skewer, gyro meat and a small wedge of spanakopita. The amount of chicken used was very small (an ounce?) and each of (5) piece serving was overcooked. The 2 slices of gyro meat were so thin that it rendered the meat virtually tasteless. The only plus of our meal was the warm apple bread pudding we shared.
We were very pleased with our meal last night. The staff were very attentive and friendly, and the food was excellent. Very unique Greek food.
Great and attentive staff. I have many great meals at this reasonably priced restaurant. The greek salad is very good and taste but has gotten a litlle smaller in size after economy slide downward. I love Tapas Ultimate Gyro and often order their specials since the they are great. Monday nights are half price wine bottle night which is another reason to stop by. Not sure what the other people are saying about the staff since they are very friendly. Often you can tell how good a restaurant is by how the long the staff has been there, and some of them have been there for 20 years.
Wonderful Greek/East Mediterranean food, no tapas!18 Feb, 2012Wonderful Greek/East Mediterranean food, no tapas!
Not worth it. I wished I had read Tony Z’s post before going here. I thought I was walking in to a Mexican or Spanish restaurant, that’s why we stopped here. To our surprise it was Greek! Ok not bad… we’re hungry we can do Greek instead. I had the chicken sovlaki which (growing up in Astoria, NY and eating tons of Greek food I remember them having lettuce, tomatoes taziki sauce… and this was nothing like it). The chicken was scarce and dry, it had a stir fry of broccoli, peppers… and some other stuff I didn’t eat.The place looks dirty and very old. Not welcoming at all. The servers & the cooks have ‘attitude’ which is in need of major adjustment. I returned the nachos- yes the Greeks invented nachos too apparently! We only ordered them because we were in a mood for Mexican remember? Big mistake….You have to wait to be seated… very cramped… I don’t even recommend this place for lunch.
This is not greek food! I’m Greek so when I go out for Greek food I don’t expect it to me as good as my mothers, grandmothers or my own. but this place sucked! Curry in greek salas, really! NEVER! But they did! Souvlaki, now if you’re Greek you learn to make this at the age of 5. Souvlaki is a little fried pita with grilled lamb, chicken or pork. With sliced onion, tomato and zatziki, I think the zatziki makes the whole thing. It should be made fresh this tasted like it was from Costco. I kind of wish it was all from Costco because that was the only good thing about the souvlaki at this place. Since when does a souvlaki have broccoli, carrots, & celery in it!?! It tasted like asian stir fry. I kind of wish we went to PF Changs. If you go there please know that’s not real Greek food. By the way they nickel and dime you for everything. Souvlaki was $8.99 if you want to make it a platter add $4.99 to it. The rice had no taste, they do have fries for $2.50 on top of the $4.99. You’re thinking they must give you a lot of food… NO! After we left my wife and I went home and made some grilled cheese. We’re never going back, please don’t waste your time and money here.
