Consistent. This place isn’t extraordinarily special. But it’s the same kind of Mexican fare I’m used to having in the south and I enjoy it. One suggestion though, if you order the tacos de carne asada ask them to fry the corn tortillas. For some reason they don’t normally, which is odd.

Not bad. If you’re looking for good chips n’ salsa, this is not your place. The chips tasted like they had been sitting in unconditioned boxes for months and the salsa was the mildest you’d ever tastetoo bland. I also recommend sitting farther away from the bar, the Spanish music was rather loud. Despite this, the dish I orderedthe Burrito Aztecawas quite tasty and the service was decent. 7/10.

This one is better!. There is la tolteca next to the the gas station and a la tonalateca by the target. The one by the target has a more festive atmosphere and is bigger but the food is absolute crap. It comes out so quick, and the plates are so hot that I suspect they may use the microwave more than the stove top. The menu is similar to La Tolteca’s but they are NOT OWNED BY THE SAME PEOPLE AND LA TOLTECA WAS THERE FIRST!LA TOLTECA BY THE SUNOCO is a small restaurant (anybody remember when it was a wendy’s?) but it has a more intimate/cozy atmosphere. Its great for date night or having dinner with a friend or two and no kids. The food isn’t the greatest Mexican food I’ve ever had BUT it is good, consistent and reasonably priced and the best sit down Mexican restaurant in the area.

Ok I made the mistake of going with my friends to lunch. The smell of cleaning agents was so strong when we walked in that I couldn’t taste my food.19 Oct, 2011When they first opened the food was good but now it reminds me of frozen microwaved store bought food. El Nopal on Rt 8 is my choice for authentic Mexican food now.

La Tolteca es muy bueno. I have visited both La Tolteca and La Tonalteca. The food at La Tolteca is much better. Also, I have read other reviews and I feel there is some confusion on where people are dining and then reviewing. La Tonalteca is the restaurant near the Target on route 13 and has the flamboyant colors inside that distract you from the poor service and average food at best. La Tolteca is closer to the race track on 13, next to the Sunoco station and in front of the Home Depot. The food is excellent with a comfortable tasteful atmosphere. Finally, each place is owned by separate owners they are not the same. I feel it is necessary to distinguish between the two so there is no confusion in writing a review.

My boyfriend and came up to…. My boyfriend and I came to Dover for his birthday! I had given him the choice of two restaurants.. He picked La Tolteca.. I must say it was the perfect choice.. Omg the food was awesome..It’s not a high end restaurant..But who cares the food is excellent and you get more than you pay for! Thumbs up! 🙂
