Went with my girlfriends family, first time there, and had a good experience. The steak I had was absolutely cooked to perfection. Atmosphere was different, nice. The service was really good as well. I would definitely go back.
Special Place, Special Food. Our first visit to 1861 was first class from start to finish.. Low-key but not too casual atmosphere. My husband started with a crab bisque that came in a bowl, not a cup, that had nice bits of crab throughout. I had a basic caesar salad that featured a delicious and appropriately garlicky in-house dressing. On to the the highlight….I had the crab cakes with a basmati rice as my entree. Two large crab cakes with high quality meat that were perfect in texture and seasoning. I am not normally a fan of basmati rice but this side dish was nutty and very flavorful and went well with the crab. I couldn’t help but be envious of my husband’s lobster mac and cheese…seriously large chunks of sweet lobster meat throughout this dish that made the most of more exotic cheeses. I truly hope they keep this dish on the menu as it’s definitely my choice next visit. The staff were very pleasant and made the experience very comfortable. No dessert this time but the choices sounded appealing and not your standard fare. A wonderful visit from start to finish. Appropriately priced for the quality of the food and the surroundings.
