I know very little about Indian food, so I’m no expert. But of all the places I’ve tried, this has been the best by far. Great taste. Good prices. And the guy who owns the place has been incredibly friendly. He’s always happy to introduce people to new foods. He’ll explain every dish to you and sometimes even offer you a sample. I’ve been coming here almost every weekend for years now. They even have a second location open all week in Wilmington. Market street, right across from the grand opera house.
Unpretentious and inexpensive but good Indian food. This Indian restaurant is inside the New Castle Farmers Market and since the market is only open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, those are the only days this restaurant is open too. Unlike most other Indian restaurants I’ve been to, Masala Kitchen is a very simple, unpretentious restaurant. You grab a menu and order at the register.I noticed that the food was vegetarian, which may be a plus to some. I had the 7-Item Thali, which is a combination platter with 3 curries, salad, rice, flat bread, and something else I couldn’t figure out. It was quite flavorful and spicy but not really the burning kind of spicy. I suspect it’s Northern Indian. The only thing they may need to improve on is the rice. I noticed bits of rice that had dried out and hardened in the rice cooker.Menu prices were very reasonable, compared to most Indian restaurants. For decent, inexpensive and unpretentious Indian food, I don’t think you could go wrong here.
