We went to Catcher’s during vacation. I’ve never been to that bad of a place before. There were maybe 4 tables occupied, including ours. The service was horrible, and food was extremely over priced. Each of us ordered cups of soup…served to us at separate times in three bowls of different sizes. Out waitress then brought two entrees, followed by one more entree, followed by asking us a while later what else we were waiting on. The food portions were small and extremely over priced. We’ve had better seafood in Pittsburgh than right at the ocean. Will never go back and hoping we don’t get sick from eating there!!!!!
The 2 other negative reviews are spot on….poor service, small portions, food not prepared properly. Place feels dirty and prices are way high considering the above. Pick anywhere else and you will be doing better.
So Bad in So Many Ways. HORRIBLE! My WORST dining experience ever! My party of 8 was seated right away Saturday night, Memorial Day weekend, 2012. Only a few other tables were occupied. No wonder. No atmosphere or ambiance, no attempt to decorate, just wood tables, benches and chairs; Nails stuck out from the backs of the benches into where we were sitting, and one cut and scraped an inch of skin off my hand. With dinner entree prices of $20 to $50, they gave shockingly tiny portions. We had to wait 45 minutes from the time we ordered till the time we received our food. Much too Long. The waitress should have periodically assured us that the food was coming. For those prices, rolls or bread should have been included to munch on while waiting. Although our young waitress was sweet and nice, she was not around much and we had to flag down the other nice waitress for silverware, napkins, and water. Some of the food tasted very good, but there were complaints…The only vegetable available, zuchinni, was too soft and mushy from being overcooked. The fries were soft and mushy, not good and crispy. The orange juice was spoiled, rancid. Of the 3 beers ordered, only 2 were cold. Before leaving, I decided to nicely offer some constructive comments to the middle-aged manager. I was nice, but he was not! He was defensive, sarcastic, rude and insulting! As I turned to leave, I heard him immediately start talking about me to the waitresses. Unbelievable!!!
Not worth a visit. We just got back from a week in Rehoboth and we enjoyed many fine restaurants, but Catchers was not one of them. The food was not very good. The prices were quite high for the portions, the menu descriptions were inaccurate, the server was bored and indifferent. Moldy greens in the salad, wine that had gone off… the list goes on.Wish we had something better to say, but we were very disappointed.
Happy Hour Greatness. This Happy Hour is a hidden gem. From 3:30-6 you can get half price apps and cheap beer and wine. The apps are absolutely amazing at regular price but beyond compare at half price. We got 5 different seafood apps that cost under $30. I would recommend this to out of town guests for sure.
