Went for dinner on a Sunday night, and the whole town was hopping! Very busy, but we got a seat at the bar right away. Ordered a seasonal beer, Aprihop, which is delicious. My husband had a taste for IPAs while I prefer more of an Amber Ale or fruity beer. This has a subtle taste of apricot with the slightest hint of citrus and plenty of hops. I would’ve had another, but with an ABV of 7.0, I was feeling good after one. I ordered the shrimp and grits (pictured) with chorizo, kale, and egg. It was delicious, but a bit too salty. My husband ate their turkey burger with avocado and a cilantro aoli. The burger (as lean meats tend to be) was a little dry, but it had juicy toppings to balance it out. Overall a tasty experience!
Great experience. If you are anywhere in the area, make the effort and grab dinner or at least a drink here. I went for dinner and everything was excellent, from the food, to the service to the great beers. They had the usual fantastic DOGFISH drafts available but also had a great selection of special seasonal and other beers that I haven’t found available in my area. My only advice is to take a growler or two with you. I made the mistake ( I read a blog somewhere) that said their growler prices are high. This couldn’t have been further from the truth. There is a cool, small gift shop set up outside which also fills growls from anywhere from $8- to around $12. I wish I would have know the prices were so reasonable, I would have brought a few empties with me. Also grabbed a bottle of their JIN. GREAT EXPERIENCE.
Positive experience. My boyfriend and I are huge dogfish head beer fans and planned to do a brewery tour/ beach day on our way traveling from DC to NYC. The tour was awesome and we then planned to eat at the actual restaurant afterwards. There was no wait to sit outside and it was a beautiful day so we opted for that. Loved the garden like atmosphere. We each did a sampler platter of the beer- my favorite being the Midas touch. We split the lamb sliders and the short rib fries. The goat cheese tzatziki on the sliders was delicious and the lamb seasoned with cumin was cooked nicely. There were three to an order. The short rib fries had a white cheddar ale sauce on them and it was a heaping portion with lots of meat, which was very good. Several of the desserts sounded delicious but we were too full. Out service was quick and efficient with no issues. Id highly recommend visiting if in the rehoboth beach area and enjoy craft brew
Hmmm not up to snuff. I agree with several reviewers as to quality of service and food. Server did not offer choice of butter or sauce with kid’s pasta and when we got home and read the menu he did not offer kid dessert included with meal(we did not read menu in restaurant). Why not include the carrots or apples with kids pasta?. I have been eating salmon sandwich for many years, salmon was good but breat was bad, split, dry, crumbled. And they ran out of Chardonnay?..on a Tuesday???? Hmm, who is at the helm here now that Sam is so busy???
I was really excited to try this place. The wait wasn’t bad but that’s where the positives end. The fish and chips: burnt fish and the fries were sponge-like and not hot. The pasta: over cooked but the peas and mushrooms were crunchy. Beer: expect to wait 20-25 minutes for it to arrive at the table, and even then it was warm. Will not be returning.
Puzzled By Reviews. I have tried this restaurant several times in the off season over the last year and I continue to be puzzled by the reviews others give Dogfish. Each time I have visited I have found both the service and the quality of the food to be lacking…and I don’t think my standards are especially high. I wish someone could tell me what I’m missing.
Nice place to relax. Love going there and enjoying great beer, great food and good atmosphere.
