Tasty Retreat…. On a cold spring afternoon we wandered into Rehoboth, looking for food after our exhausting shopping trip to the outlets. As we rounded the circle at the beach we noticed Semras. My wife and I both love Middle Eastern cuisine, so we had to stop. We were greeted warmly as we entered by who turned out to be the owner. Menus were received, and it was learned that the owners were from Turkey. Wonderful hot Turkish tea ordered and received. We of course had seen everything on the menu before in our travels, so ordering was easy. My wife loves Gyros and orders them whenever she sees them on the menu. I love to try different things, but have been ordering Kofta kabobs lately whenever I see them. We ordered a Greek Salad to share, a chicken Gyro with French fries for Marsha, and I got the Kofta platter. The Greek salad came quickly and looked like the usual thing, but as we tasted it we realized that there was something different about the dressing, nothing that stood out distinctively, but something in the background that made it better. As we ate we discussed the dressing, I thought that the extra flavor was from sumac, a spice that we have been learning about since we had it at a Persian restaurant back in Baltimore. But dill was also mentioned. Well, as our entrees were served we quizzed the owner about the flavor, and I was right it was the addition of sumac that made the dressing so mysteriously good. The goodness continued through our meals, the Gyro was near perfect, soft tender pita, tasty crisp edged chicken, and nice chunky tzatziki sauce. I didnt hear much pro or con on the French fries, but they all disappeared. My Kofta platter consisted of really tasty seasoned rice (sumac), sauted vegetables, and 2 large Kofta that I have to say were the best that I have ever had, plump, juicy and seasoned just right. After our meal we were offered a selection of their homemade desserts by the owners wife, but we were just too full. If you are ever in the Rehoboth Beach area, take the time to visit Semras…You wont be disappointed

Wonderful gyro/shwarma/felafel in downtown rehoboth!. We were delighted to find this new restaurant in downtown rehoboth just off the boardwalk on Rehoboth avenue. The food had great variety (salads, vegetables, couscous, yogurt dip, gyro, felafel, Turkish specialties) and satisfied our meat lovers and our vegetarians. Everything was well prepared and delicious. Light but savory, fresh and satisfying. Very nice people running the restaurant. We will definitely return! And you should try it for yourself. A great break from the pizza treadmill at the beach 🙂
Best food at the boardwalk! Very friendly staff and fantastic food. I heard they will be renovating it in the fall!
Great food. Fabulous new addition to Rehoboth Avenue!Reviewed July 13, 2012 NEW via mobileTwo friends and I had the pleasure of eating at Semra’s Mediterranean Grill this evening. Open only a month, it is a welcome addition to the restaurant scene on Rehoboth Avenue. Located less than a block from the ocean front, Semra’s offers very fresh and homemade fare that makes you feel like you are in Turkey, the homeland of restaurant owners Semra and her husband. We had the Appetizer Combo Plate, which came loaded with the best Dolmas (stuffed grape leaves) that I have ever eaten, Baba Ganouj, Cous Cous, Potato Salad, exquisitely seasoned fresh salad greens, and yogurt sauce. We ordered two entrees; the chicken gyro dinner served with two sides (delicately spiced yellow squash and eggplant), and the chicken shish kabob dinner. Both entrees came with rice. Samra told us that her Mom, who lives in Turkey, grows many of the spices on her farm, and ships them to Samra to use in the restaurant. Don’t let the appearance of the restaurant put you off. The owners have plans to redecorate soon, but for now are using rather tired leftover booths and tables from the Thai restaurant that previously occupied the space. Stop by and give this place a try. You won’t .
Overpriced but great food. We ducked into here for a quick lunch. I had felafel salad, he had lamb kebab. We both had two lemonades. Everything was really tasty, but it was over $30!!!! I will never, ever go back here…
