Went here and the food was good but one of the waitress tried to get over on me I ordered take out and she says oh you can wait in the car ill bring to you. Then she states oh we have a new policyyou have to tip for take out orders now. I Stated when did this start she tells me they just started then says I have to get my money to. I thought this was very tacky, and I found out she was being dishonest when I spoke to manager, and he was very nonchalant about his customers being lied to.
Freaking amazing. Went here reluctantly for a work lunch. I say ‘reluctantly’ because I judged a book by its cover. (The signage outside is a litle shabby.) HOWEVER, the interior is elegant and chic, the service is attentive and the food is so good it makes my tastebuds cry. I had the fried chicken sandwich with fries and I’m still thinking about it. They must pressure cook the chicken before they fry it, because it is so fall-apart tender that you can cut it with a harsh look. Also, whatever oil they fry it in is fresh and tasty. Even the bun was buttery and sweet. The fries are crisp and well-seasoned. The server was polite and attentive, and the manager/owner visited our table to check on us- a classy gesture. I will absolutely go back. I want to see what those fried mac and cheese bites are all about. Some comments for the owners: thank you for bringing fried chicken and waffles to Wilmington. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to turn up the Iights for lunch. Why a cowboy on the receipt logo? And finally, please get better signage so shallow snobs like me will give you a chance. You need to stick around.
This restaurant is great! Don’t let the signage fool you–the restaurant is clean, has great decor, and delicious food. I had the oxtails, and they were perfectly cooked, tender, and flavorful. The atmosphere was also great. The owner was on site, and happy to engage with customers. The Rebel is a breath of fresh air in the Wilmington restaurant scene.
