Not Good. This was my second visit to the Bubba Ques in Gainesville on 39th Avenue. I doubt I will ever go back. On the first visit I ordered the brisket sandwich. I asked the order taker how long the brisket was cooked. She didn’t know. After consulting with someone in the back the order taker emerged and told me it was cooked 14 hours. I was feeling pretty good about the brisket as I saw what I think is a Southen Pride cooker in the back. I don’t doubt it was cooked for 14 hours but at what temperature and with what type of wood? It was not tender and had little flavor.Tonight my wife and I went back. My wife is allergic to mustards (flour, seed, bran, etc) and no one knew if the rubs contained mustard. She settled for a chicken tender sandwich; not what she wanted. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich with baked beans. The beans, while tasty, did not appear to be baked but rather put together in a pot and simmered. The bread the sandwich came on was good. The pork was dry and lacked flavor. I would like to taste some smoke, or rub, or mop, or glaze, or something besides the sauce I put on the sandwich.I have given Bubba Ques two tries and don’t plan on going back. Within two miles of this place is David’s BBQ, Sonny’s BBQ, and two new places – Tupelo BBQ and Grumpys Ribhouse. If this place keeps serving dry BBQ the owners might have to change the place back to a full service Hungry Howies.

BubbaQues is the Best!. I had their ribs on Tuesday and, I’ll tell you what, they give all the BBQ places a run for their money. I love theri selection of sauces–tractor grease is my favorite. Hands down in Jonesville–Bubbaques Rules!

Disappionted. We’d been her before and the food was ok. But last night it was aweful. The ribs were fatty; the greens had no flavor, and the beans were gummy and dry–like they had been in the pot for a week. Before the food was ok; but this time I will not come back. There are enough other BBQ restaurants which are so much better.

Best food around. I have been trying a different dish everytime I go in there. I am amazed at how good the food is. I still haven’t found anything on the menu I don’t like. The sides are amazing. My favorites are the fried green beans, cole slaw, corn nuggets, and bubba stew. I have never been a big fan of pork, but I love their pork sandwiches. All of the food is moist, unlike some bbq places that are way too dry for me. The turkey club is wonderful. If you like wings, these are huge. Try them jerked with the yellow bbq sauce. Great food with a wonderful atmosphere.

Great Food!. I tried BubbaQues in Newberry recently because I heard about how funny it was inside with all their redneck decor and what I discovered was the food was fantastic. I had the smoked chicken and it was moist and tender and delicious. Other BBQ places in town can’t do chicken–they always dry it out. A friend I was with had the brisket and it was absolutely the best brisket EVER and I think I will order that next time. The pulled pork sandwich that my daughter had was also moist and delicious. The portions were great too. While we were there the new owner came in and told us they were under new management. He also gave us some coupons. The staff was courteous and efficient. I am looking forward to my next visit.

Good!!. Either things at Bubbaques have changed, or some of the posters here work for the competition. Went there last night and it was very good all the way around. We were greeted upon entry and the food was very good. 4 in our party. Had brisket, piggy back ribs, pulled pork, and a half chicken. The food was out quickly. I had the chicken and it was moist and fall off the bone tender. I love the beans!!! We all tried a little bit of each others meal. No complaints from anyone and the concept is unique, at least to us. I will be back!
