Bad experience, Twice. First time here was awesome. Second time, my teriyaki salmon was freezer burned and the sauce was not good. This time, We sat for over an hour while everyone who came in after us got all their food and check. When wo got the food (just before we were about to leave) it was bland. They did take $5 off for the wait, but we will not be back.

User reviews. My sister and I went to try it for the first time a week ago. From the outside, it didn’t look like much. Once we were inside, though, we felt much more confident thanks to the authentic decor. It’s a very small restaurant, so get there early or you might have trouble with seating. The service itself is decent. WIth the restaurant packed, they weren’t able to spend a meticulous amount of time with anybody, but they made sure we were stocked on drinks and the food itself came quickly considering the rolls are hand-made (People never seem to understand that those take time.)The food itself was delicious. We had 4 rolls and 2 appetizers between the two of us and for the price we paid, the food was well worth it. My only complaint was the lack of variety. Most of the rolls were Salmon or Crab. I would’ve liked to see more Eel, Tuna, Yellowfish, etc… There was also a very small number of rolls with Tempura, a personal favorite of mine.I will continue exploring the different sushi restaurants around the area, but Fuji Sushi is well worth returning to whenever I’m in the area.

Great Sushi. Everyone can attest that the sushi at Fuji Sushi is great. Quality of the fish is always fresh and the flavors abound. It’s a traditional style sushi place with limited seating. During busy ours the place can get a bit hectic for seating. I tend to notice when a larger group of 6+ or more come in things can get a bit backed up. I wouldn’t recommend brining a large crowd here during the busy hours. It ruins the experience for everyone. The owners are very nice and make you feel like a customer. They know all their locals by name and make you feel welcomed. I highly recommend going here and trying their sushi.

Small, clean, outstanding service and reasonable. Delicious sushi!

Good overall, needs minor tweaking. I’ll start with the good. The Korean-style ribs were delicious and very tender. They were a bit on the sweet side, but not intolerably so. The steamed broccoli that came with it was also cooked perfectly, unseasoned. The accompanying white rice was sticky and had a wonderful consistency. My dining companion had the maki combination roll. While I didn’t taste it, I can say the portion was generous and the fish looked fresh. Now to the less-than-good. The gyoza apparently comes fried only. It was greasy and bland. The onion soup tastes like it is reconstituted from a cube and rehydrated onions. It was way too salty. Service was surprising chaotic given that there were only two servers: lots of redundancy and confusion. You’d think given they way they were flitting about that they were slammed, but this was not the case.

Best Sushi in town, hands down. It’s easily the freshest, best presented, tastiest, and creative sushi in town. Dragonfly sucks. Ichiban sucks. Fuji rules. Eat at Fuji all the time!

Best sushi in Gainesville. This is, by far, the best sushi restaurant in the Gainesville area. I can’t speak to the quality of the kitchen food, but the sushi is par-none. I have been here several times and have never been disappointed. I have always enjoyed the highest quality fish here – you know it’s good because you don’t even need to add sauce, it’s so delicious without. Beautiful presentation. The servers are very knowledgeable and kind as well. The prices are very reasonable, too, which is an added bonus. The only drawback to the restaurant is its small size, but this is easily overcome by its charming atmosphere and short wait times (I’ve never waited more than 10 minutes for a table, even on a Friday night). This is my go-to sushi restaurant. Personal recommendation: the Jade Roll or Dinosaur Roll. Do NOT confuse this with Fuji Hana – totally different place.
