Went with friends on Pi Day to get some pie at Perkins. There were 3 waitresses and a manager. Only 9 tables were occupied but there were no clean tables because the rest were covered in piles of dirty dishes. Took a while for a waitress to get to us. They were out of the pie I ordered, as well as the next two flavors of pie I tried to order, out of brownies, and out of the muffin flavor I asked for. To top it off, none of the employees had a smile on their face.
50% … Well… My husband and I have eaten at Perkin’s many times. The waitstaff is pretty average and friendly, sort of a family oriented place. You always see a lot of families with children there, and the value is pretty good. Desert is lacking since all they really have is pie. =/ Okay if you like pie..But we had a horrible experience that keeps us from ever wanting to go there. They had a whopping total of two customers seated at the tables. Once we got seated, the waitress brought us our drinks, asked if we knew what we wanted to order, said we needed a few minutes. We only went there for the single alfredo dish they had. It wasn’t on the menu. After getting up to minute 15 of the waitress not coming back, and not liking any back up choice (not into pot pies or grandparent food), we actually just got up and left then went to Applebee’s across the street since our waitress wouldn’t come back.Applebee’s was much more prompt and had a delicious alfredo dish. =) I don’t expect instant service; especially not when a restaurant is busy. But I want friendly service that doesn’t leave me waiting 1/4 of an hour when they have 3 customers just to take an order for something apparently no longer served. We’ll never know.

The service at the host stand is poor. I have always had to wait several minutes before I was either acknowledged or someone finally circulated through to seat my party. The food is great… Once again, it’s hard to enjoy your food when your holding back your gag reflexes cause of a lingering odor. I will not go to Perkins on newberry road until they fix that smell!!!
Excellent value – good, basic American food – prompt & cheerful servers! Also great deals for the 55 or older crowd!
Food was horible and the service was just as bad. Will never eat at another Perkins
