A hidden gem. I absolutely love this place. as someone with a gluten allergy, it’s hard to find places where i don’t feel like i have to miss out on everything because i can’t eat much. avalon pockets has gluten-free wraps for their gyros, delicious, homemade hummus, an amazing flourless chocolate cake, and even a separate fryer for their french fries! this place is awesome for anyone!
Haven’t been here since under new management. Falafel great and they cook it fresh when you order it. Gyro meat very good . Fries also good . Very nice lady Jasmine takes order and brings to table
I first posted a negative review about this place on 08/08/2013. It came under new ownership in late 2015 and has vastly improved!!I love the food here. It is always fresh and inexpensive for what you get. The Gyro platter or the Avalon platter each of have enough food for 2 adults to share. I can’t get enough of this place!
Avalon Pockets is now under new ownership! Their new owner and his family have brought new things like a croissant burger, a breakfast gyro croissant and other new Egyptian items while still cooking their original things like the yummy gyros, hummus, and pita chips
I really like the food here. The atmosphere is not appealing and plastic utensils are tacky but nonetheless the food is good.
Okay…. I went to Avalon with my husband – the first time it was pretty good. I had the falafel while he had the gyro. The falafel was a bland but wasn’t bad – the hummus, pita chips and fries were great! However, the second time we went in there the chips were old and stale – not sure what happened? It seemed as though they took really old gyro bread and tried to re fry it one too many times.
Amazing!. I have been there many times and I love it even more each time I go! They have a new menu with a variety of choices. There are dishes that are for meat lovers, vegetarians, and vegans. Their Kofta Kabab was very juicy and delicious, well marinated and spiced. Their tabouleh was very delicious, good flavor and portion. The Gyro has a lot of meat and fresh toppings. I didn’t try the falafel but my brother really liked it when he had it. Their sandwiches are perfect for lunch, and their platter plates are filling for dinner. Their Baklava was also tasty- it had a perfect balance, wasn’t too heavy– perfect sweetness. Additionally, the owners are very friendly. Best food on this side of town- fresh, healthy, and delicious!
