Hidden Gem. I stumbled on this place after using my lunch break to make a Lowe’s run. I got a turkey bacon wrap that was so good, I returned the next day for another one. Next time out, the Cuban will be in my sights.Great price for very adequate portions of very good food.
Delicious Food. My hubby and me visited there last weekend. Mmmmm I love the chicken salad. My hubby had the pork sub. All the food is delicious and the people there are very nice.
Best Ever!. I live in St. Augustine, but when in Jacksonville, I head to Ancient Subs for lunch. Not only are the subs great, the staff is outstanding.
FINALLY… a sub shop worthy. Jimmy Johns – cheap meats filled with water, Subway – boring, Quiznos – terrible, Ancient City Subs – finally a sub shop worthy of my money! This locally owned mom and pops store is by far the best sub shop I have eaten at to date. Passing through Jacksonville we just happened upon this store and decided to try something new from all the chains. So glad we did! The sandwiches were very tasty with just the right amount of meat and cheese as well as local unique seasons I have not found anywhere else. My husband had the minorcan pork and I had the chicken salad. Both were very delicious. The place was extremely clean and the customer service was excellent. After sitting down and eating, we found out the owners actually waited on us! Big difference than walking into a chain where people don’t have much pride in their work. These owners were great to talk with and seem to be running a wonderful place. Nice to see small business working for a change! Go find out for yourself. We will surely make this a stop every time we come through town!
Best Sub Shop in JAX!. Great location and great service.The food is amazing and authentic to the st.augustine/jacksonville area. You can never go wrong with their pressed cubans and the new roast dip is superb!Not your average sub shop by any means.Prices are good and service if amazing.Good honest hard working owners as well.
Nobody Does Chicken Salad Better. In the southern mecca of sandwich joints there are plenty of chicken salad posers out there and then there is THE CHICKEN SALAD from Ancient City Subs @ 8060 Phillips Highway (Next to Lowe’s) in Jax. Whether its on a croissant, sub roll or in a wrap, this culinary masterpiece knocks it out of the park every time.One of my many taste bud favorites are the turkey, roast beef and Cuban smashed sandwiches. All the fixings are amazingly pressed into one delicious combination. Their other line up of sandwiches are also available on a croissant, wrap, sub or even a salad. Make it a combo.Lite eaters will find that the daily soup special brings it home nicely but its their salads that tell the rest of the story. The fruit & nut salad has become my personal favorite. The Mandarin Chicken salad is a meal in itself. The choice of flavored packed dressings is pretty amazing for this not so ordinary sub shop.The folks at Ancient City Subs will definitely make you forget about those other multi chain joints where you have to lock on to your GPS just to find the meat. This mom & pop operation delivers on quality food and outstanding customer service each and every time. The shop has a good homey feel and no one walks away hungry. No matter where you are, the food is worth the drive.
Awesome. The spicy pork, made with a unique and local datil pepper sauce is amazing! I’m also glad that a family owned local sub place is still in business. Will be eating here often and gladly.
