This by far was the worst dining experience my wife and I have experienced here in Jax. To start off we made a reservation for a completely empty resturant. So I know what your thinking maybe this should’ve been flag number 1? Well we continued in and was seated order our beverages to then look over and watch who we now believe is a manager that served our table the entire time pour Coke out of a 2 liter. So of course we asked what’s the deal why there was no soda gun or fountain? He tells us the soda gun is down and his hostess went out to get 2 liters for the night. So we went about ordering an appetizer of mussels- worst mistake! Mussels came out rubbery and smelled like they had been sitting out; we politely let him know we’d like to try the calamri instead and he switched it out for us, that too was bland. We ordered our dinners I ordered the lamb chops meanwhile he is stating all the food is made fresh and already I am not agreeing with this gentlemen because of the experience we had already. My wife orders the chicken parmesan a special they had for the day. We get our food about 20mins later and it’s absolutely the worst my lamb is fatty and tastes like it should have been at a buffet line, my wife’s chicken parmesan was decent but the red sauce tasted like metal and the experience overall was awful. So we got his attention let him know we were not unsatisfied with what we have been given and he proceeds to say well I am sorry just pay for the calamri and drinks we spent $20 for bland calamri and $7 on Coke that cost him at most $2 for the 2liter. Beware of overpriced food!
The food here is terribly inconsistent. The furniture is run down. It’s a great location but the food is not worth it. However, the expanded brunch cocktail menu is certainly worth checking out after you’ve eaten somewhere else. Oh and the mimosas and sangrias are bottomless.
Could have been better. We were hunting for someplace to eat and ended up in this nice little area of shops and restaurants. The Corner Bistro had outdoor seating and looked quite inviting, so we stopped in. The prices were higher than we expected but ok, it was a nice place to sit. There was a guitarist playing the style of music we liked in the outdoor dining area. The food could have been better. The soup du jour was French Onion. I had a cup and found it oily from the cheese but lacking any of the expected flavors. Table bread arrived later and was minimal, but points for making seasoned butter. For my entre I had their Prime Rib Special. The prime rib itself with the salty au jus was very good. The sides of mashed potatoes and asparagus were pedestrian. My wife was disappointed with her short rib dish, the sauce combination of cheese and chocolate didnt impress and the meat seemed more like pot roast than short ribs. She also found a piece of plastic wrap in her food. Thats something you never want to discover, even if no harm done.Service could have been better. We liked our server but there were little things I picked up on that Id rather not pick up on for what dinner was costing. But it was the 15 minutes from the time we finished eating until our server appeared so we could ask for our check that was the big miss. It had been an enjoyable but tiring day and we wanted to leave.
Decent Atmosphere, Piano, Expensive Beer, No tv’s. They charged me $6.50 for a decent beer. Thought that was a bit much. Food was ok but small portions.Pretty good atmosphere and excellent for the piano. Matt Hall is good. I think a lot of people eat somewhereelse and show up later for the entertainment. Ok date place if value is not a concern. Not a guy’s hangout. No TV’s.
Over priced and disappointing. Wife ordered penne pasta which was ok, my fillet although ordered medium was presented rare at best. To top it off it was very fatty, risotto was bland. Server was decent although table had only two menus for four people and not enough cutlery. Would not eat there again!
Worst experience ever! Crooks!. Ruined a wedding party booked moths in advance. they TRIPLE booked the venue and maliciously destroyed the brides gown with shots made for the usurping party! lots of money spent and this owner, manager, and staff destroyed it. than, on top of all of the malarkey, the called the police on our entire group. who does this? I’ll tell you, this joke of an establishment does. don’t spend your money or time here.
To Jem, I couldn’t agree with you more. Lesson learned for us. Tell people that you know about this terrible place!12 May, 2014Nothing can be said good about this restaurant because their customer service sucks!!!! I pity the owners their staff is ruining their investments. If your thinking of eating there , save yourself, this place is the worst restaurant in Jacksonville!!!!
