I should have known that when you have filipino, chinese and sushi all in one restaurant that the place may have some issues with food identity. I was excited that it had a large dim sum selection. I assume they mass produce everything to keep up with the many options. But this leads to not so fresh food. Peking duck was overcooked and therefore dry. The sauce on the Chinese broccoli coagulated within a few minutes. If your looking for authentic dim sum, this isn’t the place. Might be better off ordering the filipino dishes.Though slow…overall friendly service, but the food was just off the mark. It’s a drive and it probably won’t win best ambience award, but Silver Star still has the best dim sum in JAX.

Don’t say you haven’t been warned. We just returned from this restaurant and will never return. We thought we would try the Dim Sum. As we entered we were seated and told to serve ourselves at the buffet. There was NO Dim Sum on the VERY LIMITED buffet choices so we started with a few pieces of sushi. This was the worst tasting sushi either of us have ever eaten. We left half of what we selected on the plate because everything we tried either had a off taste, a bad after taste, or had a slight cleaning fluid taste. So we then looked for something else. The pork ribs were old and dried up as were the chicken selections, all selections of tempura were thickly coated and greasy and all the other fried foods were so greasy that they left puddles of grease on the plate. It was difficult to find anything prepared well. We tried some boiled shrimp and they also had an off flavor. When asked about the Dim Sum we were told that they were charged separately. Why didn’t they tell us that when we entered? Then we wouldn’t have even bothered with the buffet. We decided we had enough of the worst Chinese restaurant in town. Upon leaving I saw an old dirty sheet of their Dim Sum selections and was not surprised at the poor/limited selection. Most of what was offered was the same you could get in the frozen section of a grocery store or refrigerator of an Asian store (Sui mai, steam buns with bean paste, pot stickers, sticky rice, etc) Not worth going back to try. I let the manager know our disappointment and paid the bill. Now we just have to get this peculiar bad taste from those off flavors out of our mouths. I am generally easy to please and usually have nice things to say about places we visit when I do post. This is the first time I have posted with so much negativity. We had eaten here a few years ago and were disappointed with the thought to never return but after years and the addition of Dim Sum selections we thought we would give them another try. Never again regardless of how many years pass.

Old, Hard, Dry, and not edible. A friend and I stopped in for dinner and thought that if we did not care for anything else we could eat the hibachi. But even the ingredients at the hibachi station were dry and once they over cooked it was inedible. so I talked to my server and asked if I could order something off of the menu without possibility that they would make it fresh. but once I asked I was informed that they get all the food off of the buffet so even ordering of the menu was a lost cause. so I’ve been told the manager and my server that it was okaythat I wouldn’t have anything. the manager want to me and said that he would discount my ticket well the dinner is 1299 and he gave me whopping discount of 5 dollars. well thank you I will never be here again and by the way this is the first time I ever wrote a review but I just want everybody to know my experience

I’m a pretty flexible sushi eater. I know when I walk in from years of experience not to expect high end sushi, but this place is sadly hitting new lows. My fear is its kind of a death spiral. Cut food costs and quality because fewer customers come in. The remaining customers who do come get terrible food and then they stop coming. There’s only one way to fix this place. There going to need to 1) own up the good has not met their standards. 2) sink money into high quality/fresh ingredients for 6 months and just accept the math is going to look ugly and win back lost patrons. This place use to be jammed packed until somebody started cutting corners on cost.

DON’T GO!! The worst dim sum that I’ve ever had. They can’t even cook fried rice without over cooking the chicken & frying the eggs instead of scrambling them. The only thing good was the fresh fruit.

Best in the Area, so far…,. The best dim sum I’ve had in a very long time! My first visit was on Sunday and I’m going back today (Tuesday)! We buy additional serving to bring home, it’s great, just eating it cold. (We live 45 miles away, in Saint Marys, GA)
