Dirty restaurant! Baked wings must have been a jerky experiment gone wrong! Been there done dat!
The service SUX. I have come in on occasion for years. I used to come in a lot about 10 years ago. The service started to slide and has gotten consistently worse. Was in Friday after work. It was not busy. A handful of apparent bar regulars. It took 25 minutes to get my food from the time it was ordered and lukewarm when it arrived. Either they have no food runners, or the runners were busy goofing off, or maybe it was just that the bartenders were responsible for bringing out my order in a timely manner and just did not give a rip. Jim and Carla, the bartenders, were plenty busy chatting up the regulars and texting but neither asked if my order was ok until after I finished. It is a shame what this place has become. They have some decent food when it is hot. This place is a wasteland compared to Friday nights of 10 years ago when I would bring my family including young kids. I suppose the owners are now intent on losing money as a tax write off to offset some other well run entity that has a sense of pride and customer service as a priority. Again, the service SUX.
Neighborhood dive.. This place is not bad for the Baymeadows area. They have a happy hour daily and the food is passable. They actually make a pretty good cheesesteak and those are hard to find in Jax.Always a good crowd late afternoon, and the bartenders are friendly and take pretty good care of their customer. The problem with this joint is that its so dated. They have ancient rear projection TVs scattered all about, and the only flat screen is over the bar….thats it, one TV over the bar, so a good place to watch football games this AIN’T. Probably the best thing about Gator’s is that its located right next to a Dollar Tree so you’re saving gas money. LOLSo if you want to grab a bite, take a group to happy hour, or just hang out this is a fun place. But for ball games you will find me at the Tap Room down the street behind Chili’s.
Mediocre food, poor service. Today’s meal was a half-rack Kickin Bourbon Molasses ribs and Thai Peanut boneless wings. Ribs: Flavorful sauce, but almost none on the ribs. The meat was dry, stringy, and flavorless. Wings: Again, good sauce, but barely any on the food. Small pieces of meat. Additional $0.70 for a tiny side of blue cheese.Slaw: tasted like wet cabbage with no additional flavors. Fries: limp and soggy I used to come here a few years for lunch with old co-workers and always had poor service. Long waits and incorrect orders were commonplace. Started coming back this year in the evenings for drinks with new co-workers and had the same level of service.
Great wings. Went with friends for team trivia night a couple of times now. Great grilled wings and great, friendly service.
Not terible, but not memorable.. Ive lived in the neighborhood of this location for a few months, driven by it on the way back and forth to work but hadnt stopped until tonight to actually try their food and the Gator’s Dockside experience. Ribs, Seafood, Sports and Wings – a winning combination, or so I thought. While waiting for the traffic light to turn green, I saw their neighbor, Red Lobster, was busy, I began to think that Friday night at 7:30 might not be such a great idea. I pulled into the Gator’s side of the lot and it was fairly empty- not a good sign if your next door neighbor is busy and you are not. My wife and I parked and walked by some sketchy looking characters to get in the place. Walked in the door and an odd smell was in the air. Almost like a decaying smell. There was a person standing inside by the door who appeared to be homeless, so I figured it was probably just him and we decided to stay and eat as we were hungry and he looked like he was leaving. We were seated quickly enough and the young lady was very pleasant and put us at a nice table with a good view of many of the TV’s. Shortly thereafter, our server arrived and took our drink order and suggested an appetizer. She, also was very pleasant and polite. My wife and I decided to try the gator tail as that is a favorite of ours and our server had suggested it. When it arrived, I was dissapointed in the size for the price, but it looked overcooked. Somebody else brought it to us, so we requested our server so we could send it back. 5 minutes later and still no server. We found another server and again asked for ourserver and were told that she was in the office smoking! In the office smoking? Instead of continuing to wait, we told this server that we wanted a new gator tail as this one looked overcooked. She told me that it wasnt overcooked, that the oil they had to cook the seafood in was old and the fryer needed to be cleaned and get new oil. Ultimately, we did send the gator tail back and decided to get nachos for an appetizer instead. It was a huge portion for the price and they were pretty decent. They had a generous amount of chili and cheese. I think that the chili was home made. My wife got some kind of chicken alfredo with fettucine. She said it was pretty good, except that it didnt appear to have much chicken. I ordered a plain basic burger with bacon and a 10 pc grilled wings. The burger was ok. Nothing special. I ordered it medium well and it was overcooked, but not ruined in the least. The wings were very good, however they dont come with anything at all. I didnt know this when I ordered, so I asked our server for some blue cheese dressing and celery. She was very nice about it and returned promptly with them for me. She did a great job with refills of our drinks, too. I asked for more celery and blue cheese and a side of their hot sauce. Again, she was very nice about it and got right back with them. The check came and we were somewhat taken aback by the fact that anything extra we asked for cost us extra money. The 2 blue cheese dressings (shot glass size portions), etc were all $.69 each! I honestly think that at nearly $1 per wing they can afford to include the stuff that traditionally comes with wings for free. What if Mc Donalds charged for ketchup? We paid, we left and we will not return.
Very good food, excellent day bartender, great service
