Very nice people but horrible food. My husband and I love to support independent restaurants so we’re always looking for new places to eat. We’ve lived in the area over 10 years and figured it was about time to try this place out. I read the mixed reviews so I figured it would be hit or miss but we’re adventurous. The owners were very friendly, accommodating and smiling. I do feel bad about posting a negative review for the food however I have to be honest and forewarn others of what to expect. We ordered sweet tea which wasn’t sweet at all and barely had any flavor. We could’ve been drinking old bath water and we probably wouldn’t have known the difference. We both ordered combination plates that came with an egg roll, soup and an entree. The egg rolls were deep fried and all you could taste was the batter. The soup was ok, there wasn’t much flavor there either. The entrees were decent but nothing to brag about. We didn’t even want to take any leftovers however we felt bad leaving all that food behind when the owner asked if we wanted to-go boxes. When we got home we just threw our leftovers in the trash because we couldn’t bare wasting calories on something that wasn’t even worth eating. Their menus state they have been in business for over 20 years – honestly I don’t know how. Do yourselves a favor and skip this place entirely.
Nasty service, nasty food, don’t go
Best Chinese Food I Ever Had. I stopped eating Chinese take out until I tried New Hong Kong. Their egg rolls are amazing along with all their other dishes. It is not watered down like most places. This is the first review I have ever written because everyone should try this place. This is not your normal watered down fast Chinese food. This is also probably the healthiest Chinese food I have ever had too. Ask the staff how the prepare it. You will not be disappointed!
We tried it again….. It’s been a while since we’ve eaten take out from here. We just got an order of chicken fried rice and sesame chicken. The chicken fried rice was OK, but the sesame chicken was way overcooked and kind of greasy. The chicken was tough and pretty chewy. I don’t think we’ll be going back again.
One word…. AWESOME. I love the fact that this place actually uses white meat chicken, no fatty dark meat. Sweet and Sour Chicken is a full chicken breast, breaded, fried, and cut in slices. Chicken fried rice is also white meat, and no generic peas and carrots, which I hate.
Forever customer. I went online to find a Chinese takeout close to home. Several came up but after checking the review on this one I was happy to try New Hong Kong on West Bay in Largo. I arrived before lunch ended at 3pm. I can’t stand Styrofoam, which for lunch is normal but she let me have the Oriental takeout containers. She was very easy to talk to. My food was the best I’ve had in years. I recommend the sesame chicken and chicken fried rice. I will be back to try it all… I will be a loyal customer forever.
