We love Maria’s. There are a lot of Mexican restaurants in SWFL, but Maria’s is our favorite. If the service seems slow, that is because it is a traditional family, sit down dinner. You are supposed to go and have an experience with your family and friends. The best things on the menu are: Maria’s Chicken Soup, Tortilla Soup, Enchiladas de Mole (the traditional sauce that takes days to make), Tampiquena (spicy pork), queso carne and tacos pastor. Of course my personal favorite are the margaritas. They are the best you will ever have with fresh, florida fruit and plenty of tequila. I’m picky, and these are the real deal. I wish I could figure out how to make them! No sour mix here.Jose uses his mother’s (Maria’s) recipes from Mexico city. He buys all of his produce and meat direct from the source (local farms in florida) and does all of his own butchering. Everything is from scratch and authentic. We love to take our kids here to sit down for a long dinner. We don’t know Jose and his family personally, but they always make us feel at home and make sure everything is perfect and we are full and happy when we leave. Here is the web site with the real menu: http://www.mariasrestaurantinc.com/Give it a try!
Worst mexican restaurant I have ever been to.
Do not eat here! Slow and bad service. Food tasted frozen and was under cooked. We were a party of seven and everyone disliked their dish. Far from authentic and you could probably find better food in a frozen aisle at the grocery store. Also noticed many people complaining. Bathrooms were discusting and so was everything else.
Decent food. The salsa is very spicy, which I like and the guacamole was above average. I had garlic shrimp, which were good. My fiancee’s pork soft tacos were pretty dry and basic. If I were to go back I would get the burrito platter or enchiladas, which seem to be their speciality. Overall, pretty good, but not better than some of those chain Mexican restaurants.
Great food! Recommend by walgreens cashier. Worth going off the main road for 5 min.
Amazing food! They have the best chicken flautas I have ever had. Real authentic Mexican food!!!!
OK food. To pricy for just regular Mexican food.
