Rip off. After reading so many great reviews about this restaurant on yelp I decided to give this place a try. What a mistake. They have a so called daily menu with no price on it right there I should of realized something is wrong. The waitress recommended 2 rolls from their so called special menu (which isn’t since they have it every day). So we ordered the 2 rolls and 2 spicy tuna hand roll. I asked for mine to be spicier and she said ok we put jalapeno for you. Ordered 2 green teas and waited for our food to arrive. The rolls were very small and bland. They put a few thin strip of jalapeno on the spicy tuna hand roll and still very blah. While eating we see the sushi chef walk outside speaking on his cell phone. He walks back in does not wash his hands and goes back to making sushi. Call me OCD but when someone is making sushi with bare hands their hands should be extremely clean. We were going to order more food but considering the bland tasting food and the sushi chef dirty hands we decided to ask for the check and leave. And there was the chocker 68 dollars and change for 2 green tea 3 dollars a cup, 2 spicy tuna hand roll 5 dollars each, and 2 very small roll around 25 dollars each OUCH. They had the audacity of charging me 50 cents extra for putting 2 slices of Jalapenos in the spicy tuna (which she never advised me will cost extra).Needless to say this place is beyond horrible and should be ashamed of overcharging customers for everything and serving below average food. Do yourself a favor and stay away.
OK Sushi with attitude! Poor management!!. We have enjoyed OK quality sushi for the most part at SS on a regular basis. Last night after returning from an extended stay in N, we decide to have some sushi at Simon. First of all we must say that the servers are all great. We had some of our favorites as usual but everything was just a little off. The wild salmon was rubbery and tasteless. We actually mentioned that the Toro was sub-par and sent it back. Thats when the problem started the waitress was fearful and had to ask Lucy what to do?? we were then told Simon says you must pay for half the toro !! We have never sent a dish back at any other restaurant and have been asked to pay for it. BTW: We are foodies and I do have a food blog. BTW: our average bill with sake at Simon is well over 200 dollars. I politely told our nice waitress to inform Simon that if he insists on treating us in this unprofessional manner we will not return. He did and we have eaten our last meal at Simon….. It’s time for Simon to appreciate his customers before he has none….
The best sushi restaurant I have been too in years! Fresh, delish, and worth the price! Try the kawaii Maui roll, no name roll, and dumb dumb rolls! Amazing!!
Uninspired I was here a year ago and enjoyed my meal very much , it was exciting and experimental, unfortunately not much has changed , just living off their old rep and taking in too much money. Sushi Simon needs a good kick in the butt20 Mar, 2011Great Place for Great Sushi , very fresh , great service and an eclectic menu. Make sure you ask for the Special Menu
Freshest Fish in Town. A few weeks ago, a friend of ours just went on and on about the quality and freshness of the fish at Simon. Rikki and I decided to try it early one Saturday just to see how good it could be. All I can say is that we were both blown away! In fact, we now have a standing reservation every Saturday night. While in Rome a few weeks ago in the shadow of the Trevi Fountain , we both lamented that we missed our sushi night. (OK, so the melancholy didn’t last long.)Sushi Simon is a small storefront in the shopping center at Woolbright and US 1 located just a few doors down from Prime Catch. With the Winn Dixie around the corner, parking has never been a problem.First, the service is top notch. If you need the traditional type of service, all of the staff are more than capable. However, if you can get Renee as your server you are really in for a treat. She took such care of us that we felt almost like family. If you want the true experience, ignore the regular menu altogether. It’s got just about everything you would expect to find. One HUGE exception is the scallop appetizer which you just can’t miss. The real treat is the smaller hand written daily specials. The fish is walked in from across the street where the fishing boats come in. Most of the the fish just melts in your mouth, you don’t even have to waste the energy to chew. It’s fun because the special menu just gives you the name of the special, there is no description. (Hint: Just tell them what you don’t eat and they won’t put it in) There are amazing rolls and a variety of other specials all created with true craftsmanship and made with the freshest fish in town. Most of the fresh fish selections on the small special menu can be prepared for you in a variety of ways. Have someone who doesn’t care for it quite so raw? Ask for it Marimoto style and they will singe it just enough. We can’t say enough about this fantastic place with great service and mouthwatering sushi. It is simply no exaggeration to say that Sushi Simon is the best sushi joint in Boynton.
Absolutely incredible. This place is fantastic! A hole-in-the wall at first glance, but the decor and staff are wonderful! We had by far the best sushi we have had EVER! The Kauii Maui role was amazing. We had one waitress who was on our table the whole night, but we had multiple other waitresses checking in on us to make sure we were taken care of-definitely a team effort and it truly was awesome. this was my first time there but its definitely not my last!
Heavenly. I love sushi! and being from NY and traveling the world i’ve had the opportunity to sample some really terrific restaurants….sushi simon is among the best japanese restaurants i have ever been to. the sushi/sashimi is amazingly fresh and delightfully prepared…if you get a craving when only sushi will do, head over to this little spot in boynton beach. i couldn’t ask for anything more (and the staff is professional and very caring)! i love it!
