First and last time there. Arrived, ordered ribs. Spouse ordered spaghetti. Told us ribs would be 15-20 mins. We said ok. Asked us if we wanted spaghetti out with ribs. We said yes. 30 mins later, called our order number so I went to counter to pick up. Already aggravated with time to prepare. They gave me the ribs. I told them I also ordered spaghetti. They told me I had to pick that up from about her counter. Went to other counter to pick up spaghetti since it was to be ready with ribs. Spaghetti was not ready and employee had to look through tickets to find order and prepare. They said they were told to make the spaghetti at 9 (allowing time for ribs to cook). It was then 9:30. Gave me a bag and bowl of spaghetti. Went to table. Spouse asked where salad was. Back to counter to get salad. Finally started eating mine and realized onion rings ordered were not in bag in my rib tray. Back to other counter to get onion rings. Young employees seemed amused at my frustration because of their lack of performance. Got onion rings, went back to eat the worst tasting ribs ever. Sauce was like if you went to a cheap Chinese restaurant and ordered their ribs. Onion rings were Panko type and had no flavor. Nice decorated restaurant. Horrible counter service and food. I see not why their rating is so low. Avoid this place.

This was my 3rd visit to Portillos and I have to say my worst experience. We ordered the beef & cheddar croissant, tamale, fries and cranberry kale salad which we substituted romain for the kale and our usual unsweetened iced tea. The salad was tasty but we could have done without the pasta and dressing would have been better on the side or left out altogether. The tamale was not good. The stuffing was mush and it just tasted weird. The beef and cheddar croissant was pretty bland in taste, the cheddar wasn’t melted and the croissant was soggy wet. Not something you could pick up. The fries are Krinkle cut and perfect. The iced tea was so thick, we had to bring back to the counter to ask that they pore half out and add water….that couldn’t even come close to helping. It was awful. Not sure how unsweet iced tea could be so disgusting that even adding water couldn’t save it. We enjoyed our 1st two visits but this one leaves me driving out of here and thru another restaurant drive thru.

Very fast service, workers didn’t seem to enjoy working here. If you love greasy fast food, this place has a decent Italian Beef, but it’s nothing like home. Also, if they ask you if you want sweet or hot, it actually costs extra, and you should only get hot if you want your mouth to burn because you get it smothered in hot peppers. Grab and go seating. I ate my meal and regret my decision.

I must have visited a different Portillo’s in Brandon because I didn’t find the great hype & food that all my friends have been bragging about. I actually was the first person today for lunch, so I missed the God-awful lines that I’ve heard of. The inside was nicely decorated, but really had a Disney theme park feel, which was not meant as a compliment. The burger also looked and tasted like a theme park. The combo dog (dipped) was just okay, but the sausage was like any supermarket version. And it really didn’t look appealing. But the Krinkle Fries were awesome!!! I guess I’ll only head back here when I want good fries. foodiefrog.com

Awful. Just awful. I must be missing something. Huge crowds of people- no seating concept other than rude ‘grab what you can’ mentality- long lines for hot dogs and burgers that are small, taste exactly like somewhere between Chilis and Five Guys. What this is must be an idea. The idea is ‘come here because it is good…and tons of other people are here that must reinforce that it is good.’ Sort of like political parties. I will never waste my time here again.

Am I missing something here? Stopped in one evening and had the Italian beef with fries. Small portion, ok food and nice enough surroundings, so why the huge crowds??? Lots of better chains nearby. Stopped in again on Memorial Day and walked straight out once we saw the lines.Appreciate our area loves anything new, so maybe try again in 6 months when the novelty factor has died down
