My wife and I went with my father and stepmother. Estelle’s used to be the Brandon neighborhood treat for Mexican but they shut down, and my folks found Vallarta’s. I had been here before but the building used to be a steak and seafood place many years before. The food was good as was the conversation. winedineandplay.blogspot.com
Vallarta’s is my absolute favorite Mexican restaurant. I was thrilled to hear they have one closer to my house now. I’ve been to the Brandon location three times and the food was just as delicious as the other original locations that I frequented. I’ve even arrived very close to closing time and the service was still great and the waitress was very friendly. There’s no reason for me to drive to the Temple Terrace or Land o Lakes locations anymore. I should note that I took a girl who lives very close to the Land O Lakes location and she was thrilled with the food.
Went to the one in Brandon tonight for dinner and it was my second time. There was a hair in my food and I nicely told them that it grossed me out. Did not yell or anything and they handled it very inappropriately. They offered to make me something fresh but I said no thank can I maybe just get a margarita or another beverage, they said no. They did take my meal off but I thought it was rude to not please me with giving me at least a draft beer for not being able to enjoy three quarters of my meal I was looking forward too. In addition to all of that, they ran out of sour cream and gave it to me at the same time I reported the hair and still charged me for it.
Went here twice bad service both times.. I am a stickler for good service when i go out to eat. I Went to this new restaurant twice and both times we had two different waitresses who were both non friendly, slow, poor communication skills and had no idea about the menu. The food wasn’t bad. I had a lot of mexican before and it was pretty average; so they probably have some good dishes. The food wasn’t the problem the service was. Also 2 for one drinks was a plus with draft beers!. If they can fix their service problem, this could be a pretty decent mexican restaurant. But without better service it can be a rough start here.24 Apr, 2015Average food and bad service. We had real bad service here and the food was pretty average. I know the place just opened about a month ago but the waitress that served us seemed like she had pretty much no idea what was going on. The food was average Mexican fare and the menu was different than other Vallartas. We will try it again to see if things have improved.
Horrible would be an understatement. The food is bland, texture challenged (think canned dog food and two month old flour tortillas from the grocery store), incredibly slow and inaccurate service. I wanted to love it. We need a good Mexican joint locally- especially for those of us that are former west coasters and So Cal’ers. This isn’t the place. Taco Hell would likely be a better bet. 1 hour later crappy food arrives- 1.5 hrs later food for our kids. Never again.
