We chose Amicis as the location for my rehearsal dinner. We looked at roughly 10 locations but chose them due to their private dining room and menu options.Do not be fooled. We arrived at Amicis only to find our private room was already sat with people being served. When approached about this, the owner of the restaurant couldn’t have seemed to care less. They claimed that we were never written in their books to have the room reserved – despite the fact that our menus had been printed. They didn’t even attempt to contact the person whom we had been working with. Clearly there was knowledge of our event. Not only were we rudely not given what we were promised, when guests that were sat in our event area began complaining about us, I overheard a server give an excuse – not that it was the restaurants fault, but that it was somehow our fault that their dining experience was being ruined.Entrees took forever to be served, so much so that my parents – the ones who had been coordinating and would be paying for the entire event – were unable to even eat their meals because they were served cold. One would think that after putting those clients through what they’d already been through at least they’d be able to eat, but alas you’d be wrong. My bride to be was also the last person at my table to be served, a good 5 minutes after the first plates at the table arrived.Despite being promised that no further parties would be sat in the room after our arrival, I counted at least 5 more groups that arrived afterwards. Again upon approach about this situation, nothing was done but poor attempts at talking their way out of it.I would highly recommend you head the advice of myself and the other reviewers on this page. It seems now that there is no coincidence that these reviews all mirror each other. Amicis is a terrible location to hold a private event unless you’re somehow already given preferential treatment. The owners whom were both present during this entire fiasco should be ashamed of how poorly they handled the situation. Of course, since they have a packed restaurant and still made money they could likely care less, no doubt the only sentiment going through their heads at the time. New Yorkers are beguiled for that kind of stereotype for a reason, after all. Please, as a groom who listened to a friend over reviews, I urge you to not make the same mistake we did. This restaurant is popular with the older generation whom reside in Suntree and rightfully so. They get the respect and service they expect because they regularly spend large amounts of money there. If you happen to be looking for a place where you would expect human decency and good business practices to win over how much money you can make the owners, I would avoid this place at all cost.
We reserved the Chefs Table room for a private event, my wedding rehearsal dinner. We were told we would have the whole room. We arranged to have cocktail hour with appetizers set up on the bar with everyone walking around mingling, then dinner at the tables afterwards. We set a special menu with the restaurant just for our event. They charged us more than the normal prices for each entre since we were reserving the entire room. All this was planned out well in advance and the restaurant agreed to all these details. However when we arrive, there are already several tables of people sat and the entire bar in our private room. They tell us they didnt know we were coming, despite having our special menus printed and ready for us. They tell us that no one else will be sat after these people leave and that we can have the 5 tables crammed up against the walls. No room to mingle, no appetizers on the bar. We overheard some of the other guests that had been sat in our private room complaining about us, and the servers apologized and told them that we werent supposed to be there. They continue to seat the other tables after the other guests finished despite telling us when we arrived that no one else would be seated. They eventually start trying to take some drink orders, but I dont even receive a glass of water until almost an hour after we arrive, and it took another half hour to receive a glass of wine. When they finally bring out food, they bring out all of one dish, then the next dish, etc, instead of serving table by table. So by the time I receive my dish the first people at my table had already had theirs for around 20 minutes. Their food is now cold because they didnt want to eat before me (the bride) had received my food.So at the end of the night they finally try to appease my mother-in-law by offering her two bottles of wine. They offer no real apology or explanation, just insist that it is a misunderstanding on our part. They charged us extra per plate to have a private room and didnt give us a private room or offer any compensation for the absolutely horrible evening. Every attempt we have made to discuss this with them after that evening has just been completely blown off. They do not care about their customers at all. This is the absolutely worst place to hold a private event. I recommend that no one even go there for a regular dinner either since they think it is acceptable to treat people this way.
Good food, loud environment. The specials were very good, but the environment is busy and in your face. Very busy and loud.
Food is going down. We have been going to Amici’s for years. Last night we went and the food was bland and the quality is fallen. Plus it is tacky to see pictures of the family all over the restaurant. Please change back to the way you were a few years ago..
Always have to go when in town. This is one of two places I always have to have a meal when in town. Always good and I always eat too much. We usually try to hit at an odd time so we don’t wait.
Real Italian. The best! You can’t see the restaurant from the street, but it is almost always busy. It has a loyal local following and for good reason – the food is fantastic!
Very good Italian!! Similar to northeast style
