I didn’t try to become a regular….. My favorite breakfast place EVER! I come every two weeks and sometimes more. 🙂
Well I orders a bagel to go and everyone sitting down is receiving their food. 15 minutes and counting for a toasted bagel….
I hadn’t been to BU in over 12 years since I left Gainesville to move to Jax. The bagel with walnut raisin spread was still as good as I remember, but our breakfast was a tad greasy. The place also felt old and dirty. It really needs a good cleaning and remodel.
Yum! Lived my cinnamon raisin bagel with walnut & raisin cream cheese. Fantastic!
Unparalleled. Sad to read the last review – after being away from Gatortown for 5 years (and elated to come home!), we did find BU a little frayed on our homecoming visit. HOWEVER: even though it seemed like they were understaffed on a Sunday morning and John looked frazzled, the spinach asiago knish with an egg and muenster on top (I believe that’s some version of the Charlie?) STILL ROCKS like no other breakfast dish! And the iced tea is really fresh. And the bacon was great. And the wall of hot sauce is to die for. Count us among the loyal following.
I really hate to do this to one of my former favorite breakfast places, but it has become a piece of junk over the last year. My wife and I just got back from waiting over an hour for a regular breakfast, only to find out that they misplaced our order. We had to remind them to refill coffee, and check on our order and they weren’t even full of people!!! I have been a customer for over 10 years but this was the final straw. The waitress didn’t comp anything after taking full blame for losing the order, and they had the guts to even charge me $0.25 for using a credit card. I’m done with this place, and John (owner) – you really need to tighten up the ship there, it has become aggravating the last few times we have been there because we love the menu and atmosphere. The service trumps everything though…
Great Bagel, Not so great service…. I’ve been to Bagels Unlimited twice now and both times I had less than great service from the staff. I cannot speak for their service with waiting the tables because I ordered to-go both times. The first time was a Sunday and they were pretty packed so I tried to be understanding. Plus, their Eggel Bagel (meat, cheese, egg) was delicious despite the long 20 minute wait I had. They put a freshly fried egg on their bagels, which makes such a difference!I went a second time on a slow Tuesday morning. The woman who took my order was pretty unwelcoming and even watched the TV instead of getting my drink or allowing me to pay. I took out my card as soon as she had finished writing down my order and I know she saw me keep standing there with it. It makes me feel more comfortable to pay right away and I’d say the majority of places do that. I guess what actually bothered me about it was that she was watching the TV. She also wasn’t watching my bagel and it came out burning. The bagel this time was still just as delicious and was a lot quicker since they weren’t busy. Plus, the man who was making the food was actually very nice to me so it made up for the unwelcoming woman! I’ll definitely keep going here because of the food but I hope I’ve just caught the staff on bad days!
