Good place for a peaceful meal. It’s the place to go if you want nice food, decent service without the ‘student influence’. That’s not a negative thing but sometimes, you want the peace and quiet without the excitement the current generation can bring to the party. The food has always been nice and this is my go-to place for a nice adult night out.Pasta massimo is amazing by the way and well worth trying 🙂
Went again last night. Excellent chicken parm.
It was good food, but I thought it was a bit over priced. Service was great.
One of my Fav’s. This is THE best Italian I’ve had in Gainesville. Every time I’ve gone the food was delicious and succulent. The decor is nice as well, which makes this place a great option for birthday parties or special occasions. Of the times I’ve went, it was fairly empty, so service was quick however unremarkable. Value wise, it’s more expensive than your typical chain restaurant, but the food is more than worth it. Be prepared for a doggie bag as well, because the portions are quite massive for most people.
Not great. Not awful.. This is a tough place to review. I find it easier if the restaurant is amazing or appalling. My husband and I went here with his parents from out of town. They don’t like loud music and wanted a quieter ambiance, and that can be hard to find in Gainesville. In this respect, the restaurant delivered. Still, it’s not exactly an ‘intimate’ setting and they use paper table cloths over vinyl, so it’s not exactly ‘fine dining’. We shared the appetizer special: stuffed mussels. They weren’t stuffed (more topped), but had a nice flavour. They sat on a bed of marinara sauce, which I liked (good tomatoes and very fresh) but the rest of the party thought had too much garlic. My husband and I had beef tenderloin and saffron rissoto. Beautiful cut of meat, cooked perfectly, with a delicious brandy glaze. Rissotto was oversalted and uninteresting. Veggies were nice, but lots of chopped garlic again, which we all tasted for the remainder of the evening…I tasted the other dinners – breaded veal was too greasy although meat was nice. Chicken marsala had a nice marsala sauce but was served with store bought penne (apparently the lasagna and stuffed pastas are home made). Very large portions. Overall they had nice cuts of meat and good sauces, but too much garlic in everything and none of the food ‘wowed’. I might give it one more try at some point but unlikely. Manuel’s Vintage Room does such a phenomenal job, I can’t imagine eating Italian anywhere else in Gainesville (except last night, and only because Manuel’s is closed on Mondays). Next time I want Italian food on a Monday I’ll make it at home…
Francesca’s has amazing customer service and they used locally grown produce for their meals. If u are trying it out for the first time and don’t want to make a $$$ commitment try going for lunch one day the prices are only about $8-$12. If u can’t make lunch they have an early supper menu from 4-6pm meals are around $13. I love this place! Try it and you will never go back to Olive Garden or Carraba’s again.
Went on a whim. After seeing a list of places for Italian in Gainesville, my boyfriend and I drove by on a whim to see if it looked nice enough for our anniversary. We were pleasantly surprised when we stepped inside this little gem. Our waiter was very attentive and the menu looked appetizing. We ordered an appetizer to share and each an entre. The appetizer set the standard high but the entres surpassed what we thought was the best appetizer we had ever had. Sufficient to say, we liked our plates clean and didn’t leave room for dessert – something I know regret after reading the other reviews. Perfect date night or special occasion place. We will be going again soon!
