Only had the sushi for this visit. Wide selection, but low quality. Sushi was just ok…maybe a bit better than buffett sushi or publix sushi. Nothing great. Mahzu is the best sushi place i’ve had in Gainesville.
Review. I just recently went and dined out at the down town location. The restaurant itself is eye appealing. The waiter wasn’t charming and took forever to take our order, despite us being one of the only people in the restaurant, but he was quick to get us spicy and eel sauce. The sushi was pricey, and the rice had a strange taste that didn’t sit too well with me. But over all I enjoyed it,although it took forever for it to be ready. Seriously we were in there for an hour and a half just for sushi rolls. They do have awesome plating skills, which I loved. Very flashy. I would eat there again but it’s not my favorite place and it’s definitely not authentic Asian cuisine. It’s more Americanized in the sushi and you can definitely taste that in the food quality, if that makes sense.
Love the sushi and the servers. We drive into gainesville at least once a week to eat their sushi. the service is always great and they treat us like family. they will even create something for you if you cant find it on the menu. they are always willing to go the extra mile to make us happy and we are willing to drive the extra miles to dine there.
Went to Ichiban a couple weeks ago, and it was good. Not outstanding, but I wouldn’t hesitate to return. The sushi and sashimi were good, and the staff was friendly. A bit overpriced in my opinion but overall a nice place to dine.
I went here on a date this week and I was really impressed. It had been awhile since I’d been here and there was a new manager who couldn’t have been nicer. He personally came out and gave recommendations and ended up serving us the whole night. His recommendations were delicious and the sushi really blew us away. We had the geisha roll, the volcano roll, eel roll, and sashimi appetizer and all of it was fantastic. It was a wonderful evening out and I will definitely be coming here regularly
Sushi and Tempura Yum!!!. It’s been awhile since I’ve been back to Ichiban, and its nice to see some of the same servers are there. Dino (my server) was promoted to manager. I like that they promoted from within. I guess the old, tall, asian manager (Richard) isn’t there anymore. I had a new roll Geisha and my usual shrimp tempura…so good. They finally have some new rolls and dishes, after years of the same thing, its about time. If you go on a Friday, make a reservation. I went this Friday and it was packed.
Don’t waste your money!. While on vacation, we decided we wanted to eat sushi for dinner. We discovered Ichiban as we were walking around downtown. The hostess tried to greet us, but the mouthful of Mcdonalds made it difficult for her to do so. Should have been first sign the food sucked. We ordered the monkey roll and it was okay. Ordered spider roll, drum roll, and yoshi roll. All were SO bad. Many of the rolls include cream cheese, which we decided was to cover up the awful taste of other ingredients (crab). We are staying far away from this restaurant. Not worth it!
