The only place in town with awesome dairy free ice cream in my opinion. My husband is lactose-intolerant and he really likes ice cream. This place has awesome, smooth and creamy ice cream that won’t hurt his stomach and we both love their flavors.
Terrible Service, mediocre coffee. I used to frequent this place often but the repeated terrible customer service started to put even Maude’s to shame. One of the owners (a male) is stern but willing to acknowledge you if you strike up a conversation. The other owner (female) is just very angry toward her customers as if we’re a bother to come to her place of business. The ice cream is not bad and I appreciated the multitude of adventurous flavors. The coffee was standard, maybe comparable to restaurant coffee such as one gets at Breakfast joints (ie. iHop, WaffleHouse, Bob Evans). That’s fine for a quick cup to blast through studies, but the coffee is supposed to be the signature item here. There are other coffee shops downtown who set a much higher standard and in turn make it difficult to consider Karma Cream more than a regular coffee shop living off it’s proximity to the University and the constant turn-over of unknowing customers. In closing, I want Karma Cream to be good, but after trying to be a frequent customer it was just a bad experience.
First the ice cream is disgusting…and I’m referring to the nondairy. Second, the owner is so disgustingly rude and unprofessional that my little brother and i were shocked. My mom bought me a medium french vanilla that tasted like kerosene…like chemicals. So, I took a taste and it was rancid. I took it back, apologized and said, I’m sorry, this tastes not so great, can I get another flavor. I tried a few more, which were mediocre at best. I decided on the mint chocolate non dairy and told him i was proud of his effort to open a non dairy dessert store. He basically stared at me rudely, gave me no smiles, like he was preparing to be ruder than he already was. Then he charged me $3.40 for the replacement ice cream ( I even got a small instead of a medium to be nice). I told him that the previous ice cream tasted rancid and that it wasn’t fair that i was being charged again. I wanted an Exchange. He literally snarled and said, its not my problem that you didn’t like it. You should have thought of that before you purchased it (my mom bought it for me while I was next door). He then said, I don’t care if you don’t like it, you will have to pay for another. Well, I’m never going back obviously but forgetting all this nasty unprofessional experience, the product is disgusting, esp the French vanilla. The mint chocolate chip was like eating Styrofoam. It was bad stuff but the owner is just unbelievably rude. Too bad bc dairy free is a great concept but it is in the wrong hands with this guy.
Unbelievable ice cream. It is hard to explain how much better tasting this ice cream is than any other place in Gainesville (with the exception of Sweet Dreams.) The freshness is unmatched. I have never had such an intense, fresh dairy taste in my life. All the flavors are incredible and they don’t skimp on main ingredients. The pistachio is FULL of pistachio and is the best I ever had anywhere. This place is fair priced by all means, and underpriced in some areas in my opinion, so stop wining and give it a shot. You will definitely go back.
This place is AMAZING! The best organic & vegan treats! They’re environmentally friendly, too, so if you order it to eat there you get your treats on real dishes (which is a rarity in coffee houses & ice cream shops now a days).
Like it. $3.40 – small$4.40 – medium$5.20 – largeVERY FAIR prices considering it’s organic. If that’s too expense, go somewhere that serves ice cream made with sick, hormone induced cows from a factory farm. If they were a rip off prices, the owners wouldn’t be there just about every day, serving customers just so they can keep their prices low enough.
The previous review is right on. This place is way overpriced. Will not go back!
