Good for what it is, which is a neighborhood bar food. Burgers are juicy and tasty. The tomato on my burger was fresh and thick cut. The onion rings were in-house as were the fries. My husband’s turkey club had plenty of turkey and bacon. So much food that we only ate half and took the rest home. My friend recommends the sweet potato fries. We always enjoy ourselves when we go. The service is always friendly and efficient. The dining room is nicely decorated and we like sitting at the bar and watching sports. If you live near this is a nice, little restaurant.
Some good some not so good. Good – service, food, prices. Not so good – noisy, seated at table by bar, near kitchen, so lots of traffic going by by waitstaff. Not the place to go on a date, but not bad just to grab a bite at a reasonable price.
What A Joke. The food is over priced and never consistent. The waiters add on extra charges without telling me or my wife.
Yikes!. Today my family
Don’t order a mixed drink. You will get a glass 3/4 full of ice, an inaccurate pour and a crabby bartender when you request that he re-pour it. He will get back at you.
Great food. Fish n chips was really good. Fries are killer. Nice atmosphere and Cozy.
New G-Ville Favorite. The Mama Bear and Papa Bear were in G-Ville to visit our cub Nick, and we had a wonderful dinner with Nick and his charming ladyfriend Rachel at the Red Onion. In fact, the Red Onion is our new G-Ville favorite.First, the Red Onion is off of G-Villes main drags. Not near the Swamp, Downtown or Archer. Little bit of an older crowd. What an outstanding staff (Thanks Cara from Long Island who went to my sister-school)! Friendly, attentive and great suggestions.Apps We went with the Sampler which included Avocado Egg Rolls, Buffalo Egg Rolls, Crab Rangoon and the best Onion Rings I have ever had. Sauces to dip which were great. We also had the crab cakes. After spending a lot of time in the DC-VA-MD areas which is Crab Cake Heaven, the crab cakes were alright.Dinners Mama Bear had the salmon, I had the hanger steak, Nick had the duck and Rachel had the sirloin. Every dish was a winner with great sides.Desserts I dont think they are made on premises, but the pecan pie was a winner.Tasty Adult Beverages Tasty and reasonably priced. And there was a jazz trio playing that was just frosting on the cake.Great service + good food at fair prices + ambience + my son = A Great Night @ The Red Onion.
