I went to the swamp eight years ago and I was not impressed. I felt it received a lot more hype than necessary. However, after tonight I feel like it has made a comeback on its flavors and servers.
This place was great. We were passing through and stopped due to other reviews we saw in here not knowing it was graduation weekend! But our food and drinks were delivered timely. Everyone was so friendly especially our waitress Meghan. Obviously they have enough staff to handle things and not stress them out. It was a good experience and good food!
Perfect restaurant in a college town. Gainesville is a college town, and Swamp is a college bar/restaurant. Once you accept that, you understand that this is one of the truly unique restaurants in Gainesville that you come back to again and again simply for the atmosphere. This is a Game Day paradise, and all of the Gator memorabilia and history on the walls is fantastic. Gator fans, students, and alumni from all walks of life frequent Swamp, and it’s a great place for group meals. Thinking back to my college days, there really isn’t anything better than sharing a pitcher of beer with friends on the front lawn of Swamp, listening to the live entertainment. I never really went for the food, I went for the atmosphere. (But I actually happen to really love their food, despite what previous reviewers have commented. Try the Buffalo Chicken Wrap or the Swamp Burger!) Drink prices are a little bit high if you aren’t into pitchers.
Disgusting and overpriced.. to say the least …pork sandwich was horrible and the appetizers were greasy and way overcooked …absolutely poor food and poor pricing since there food is bad
Not Good. Bar food. Nothing special. Service is slow and the girls all wear those shorts that appear to be panties, except that they are denim. Very college-town-esque. Not wasting my money here.
Fun over Food. Good place for a quick bite to eat. Nothing too special about anything on the menu in my opinion. Everything is just, o.k. However, the lawn is a great place to meet up with friends for some beer before a weekend of the Gators stomping face in Ben Hill Griffin.
Overpriced & overrated. Maybe it’s because I’m not one for the fanatic Gator Nation vibe, but I will definitely never come back here. The food is decent at best, the prices are overkill, and I just didn’t see anything special about it. The service, at least, was extremely friendly.
