Arrived and was told it would be 35-40 minutes. Wasn’t seated for 90 minutes and was served cold food after 120 minutes. Hostests were rude and manager was especially rude to multiple customers inquiring on why they were waiting the same amount of time we were. Will not be returning.

I am typically a big fan of any Flying Biscuit location, absolutely LOVE their biscuits and breakfast items. That being said, the service at this location was some of the worst I’ve ever had. After waiting over an hour to eat (much longer than the 25 minute estimate) the kitchen lost of our order. I understand things happen, especially in a busy restaurant, but the thing I can’t accept is a manager not taking the time to find out what was going on at a table after she was asked to come over. That behavior from management is simply not acceptable which is why I won’t be returning.

Best Breakfast in Gainesville. If you want a breakfast that will make your week, go to the Flying Biscuit. It is hands-down the most filling and yummy breakfast you will get anywhere. Their biscuits are dense, yet flaky and sweet. The grits are creamy, thick, and delicious. My favorite entree is the eggs Benedict. We sometimes get the grilled macaroni and cheese side, which is also just as amazing if you’re a mac and cheese lover.

Terrible service ruins even the best food. During a trip to Gainesville, our hostess must have touted this restaurant to us half a dozen times building our expectations each time. Sadly, although the food was pretty good, the deplorable level of service took away any enjoyment we may have gotten from it. if our experience had happened to someone else, it might even have been comical. There was an ominous start to our dining experience when the hostess walked us through the nearly vacant restaurant and sat us at a booth next to the kitchen doors that was not only dirty but had water on not one but both seats. The hostess just shrugged and left us standing there menu-less until we flagged down a busboy who at first tried to wipe up the seats with a single used napkin before retrieving a proper rag. Needless to say, i was already turned off and had a bad premonition of what was to come, which proved me right. Our server (who never introduced himself) told us he only had two tables so were not expecting the complete lack of service and attention that followed.Everything took twice as long as it should have, from even getting menus to the time between ordering and receiving our drinks. The ladies went for breakfast fare and told me they enjoyed it. i didn’t have the same experience, as i found myself waiting on our waiter more often than not. I ordered a burger and it was served without condiments. By the time i got a simple bottle of ketchup the burger was cold and the bun had gone hard. That should give you an idea of the level of inattentiveness and uncaring. At one point, i got up, walked clear across the restaurant and refilled my own coffee cup, picked up a few creamers and walked back to our table and it seemed to me that none of the staff even noticed. After that, we watched as several other customers followed my example and got up to get what they needed as the staffers had all but disappeared. After waiting an interminable amount of time with a table full of dirty plates, our waiter finally reappeared and casually dropped the check on the table before retiring to wherever he and the staff were hiding. We left the money on the table and made our escape like furloughed convicts afraid the gate may soon be closing. So much for one of Gainesville’s best.

3rd time is not a charm. I have eaten at this location 3 times. Each time something has been messed up. The first time they over poached my eggs to the point of a soft boil. I requested more and they took over 12 minutes to arrive and everyone at my table had already finished eating and my food was beyond cold. The second experience was decent but they undercooked my pumpkin pancakes, as there was clearly wet dough in the center when I tried to eat it. The fried green tomatoes are also lacking flavor and seem under seasoned and soggy. The third and final experience (I definitely won’t be back, ever) I ordered an all american eggs benedict. The hollandaise tasted funny and wasn’t like any I have ever had, not in a good way. The english muffin was so soggy it was like eating a piece of bread soaked in water and they overcooked my poached eggs AGAIN. I honestly can’t wrap my head around how a breakfast/brunch restaurant can’t cook an egg. I kept eating here and trying to like it because my partner loves this restaurant and the service is always on point but the service doesn’t make up for sub par improperly cooked food. I will say that the management did take care of some of the bill during the last visit but I still won’t be back. 3 tries is the most a restaurant gets. On a positive note, the grits are delicious, I just wish I could say the same for the rest of the food. I am also a chef and have been in the hospitality industry for over 14 years so perhaps my standards are a bit high, but brunch is not that difficult it just seems they need better kitchen management and quality control.

The service was great, and the manager was also friendly. However, the fried green tomatoes were the worst I’ve ever had. I would likely return to this restaurant one more time to try something different.
