Great food and great people, I personally met the owners while there and they were awesome! Such an amazing experience I would not expect to find in such a small place in Fleming Island. Worth the visit for sure.
Everyone in the Fleming Island/Orange Park/Jacksonville area needs to come out and try Mackey’s Munchies. Hands down the best New Orleans style cooking I’ve had in a really long time and I used to live in New Orleans. The service is top notch as well!
The Best Cajun Food Without Going To Louisiana! The best Jambalaya, Gumbo & so many other items that I would just be listing their menu. This isn’t a huge restaurant, but instead I get greeted with a hug from the owner or his wife. The amount of spice is up to you, so don’t think well you have to worry about how hot everything is. That’s totally up to you. The combination of Gumbo mixed with Jambalaya is incredible! Not a soup but not something you want a fork for. If you want just Jambalaya itself, you can’t go wrong. I have tried so many different things including there daily specials & you just can’t go wrong. I love touffe Thursdays and Shrimp & Grits Saturdays! The one thing that we can’t leave without is the Beignets. Oh my, it’s like bite of heaven every time you bite, but they never last. Order them at the beginning but if you tell them you want them after your meal, you get them hot & delicious at the end. The caramel sauce has a coffee base that’s one of the best, although a few of our party mix the chocolate with the caramel. It really doesn’t get any better. We drive 30-40 minutes to get there, because they’re that good. We’re big foodies so when I say we haven’t found a Cajun Restaurant this great. We really haven’t even come close. What’s one of the best things is get the large instead of the regular, save it for the next day. It’s one of those meals that’s great when you’re eating it & the next day, you wonder how it’s still so good. All I know is that the Mackey’s are wonderful people & they put all that caring into their food.
This place is amazing. I am glad that they are close, but I would drive a ways to eat here. One of FI’s best kept secrets. Save room for dessert.
Very traditional Louisiana food. I had a very good shrimp po boy. You definitely get your money’s worth. Mackey is super friendly and makes sure you experience is great.
