  We stopped in for lunch. Located in the Sandpearl Resort. Setting is picture perfect on Clearwater beach. Wait staff is sub-par. Food is good, but not worth the hefty price tag. Very nice restaurant.

  If you like the beach, you’ll love Caretta on the Gulf!. The Caretta on the Gulf is located on the ground floor of the Sandpearl Resort in Clearwater Beach, FL. The view of the beach from the restaurant is fantastic! The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating.We ordered the Lobster Roll (lunch portion) which contained lobster salad on a split top bun with fennel slaw and Florida citrus. It was delicious. Their C-Burger with cheddar cheese, bacon, onion, lettuce and tomato was tasty as well.I recommend this restaurant for groups, families and individual diners as well.

  Just okay. Restaurant is beautiful, good wine list, food was only average for this level of restaurant. Waitress was a little too friendly to point of being a bit annoying. You know when you meet people who are trying really hard to be something they are not? That’s how I felt about everything in the place except the view.

  We dined here for our one year anniversary and it was nothing short of incredible. Staff and service was impeccable. Food couldn’t have been any better. Had a great wine selection. We will definitely go back hopefully for years to come.

  Very Very Good Food, Mediocre Service, Excellent Atmosphere. This is the best food I have had so far in Tampa. I had the venison dish. It was perfectly cooked, the starch/vegetable (a hybrid German potato mushroom job) was flavorful, a little risky, but it worked. The server was completely clueless about the menu and had not even tried most of the items on it, but was polite and brought a more senior waitress over to greet us (after we had already ordered). I expect more for the cost of the food and better training before a server is allowed on their own to handle tables. Aside from that, the atmosphere of the hotel and restaurant is unique, beautiful, and relaxed. We have eaten here twice and both times the food was very good. It is not especially child friendly, but the staff were very accommodating.

  Fabulous Meal. Loved the place! The view of the beach and sunset was gorgeous! The service couldn’t have been better. And the food was phenomenal!! I don’t know where those other reviewers were eating, but it wasn’t the Caretta’s I was at. I hope you give it a try, it was truly a wonderful dining experience!

  Very disrespectful. I dined at Carretas with my wife and were very disappointed with the service. We have always had good experiences there until one night we had Al as a server. He was rude and obnoxious.The whole night he was arguing with another server and that made us very uncomfortable. What surprised us the most is that when he dropped off the check he told us that the wine was on him. Why would my server pay for my $200 bottle of wine???I think he did that to get a better tip. When i asked for the manager his response was that there wasn’t one on duty. Really????? I thought that was very disrespectful and very unprofessional. Love the place but very disappointed. Don’t know if we want to go back there. That was one uncomfortable dinner
