Nice people…but they don’t know how to make a Stromboli; the dough was soft like Pillsbury rolls and the filling not very appetizing. The Greek salad was a combo of fresh greens, mummified peppercinis, and balsamic dressing? WTF? Sorry…I’ll pass.
Great, great, great!!! What a gem tucked away on Drew St. You might accidentally drive past Maggio’s cruising down Drew St. in Clearwater. It’s in a little strip shopping center tucked in behind the Tilted Kilt near Hwy 19. Do yourself a favor and slow down. This is a small family-run restaurant specializing in pizza, sandwiches and Italian dinners. My family and I have had all three and all three have simply blown us away. If you get a sandwich, do not pass on the fries. French fries are such a common thing in sandwich shops you might think what you will get is a pile of bland, tasteless sticks of starch – but not here. The fries are seasoned with just the right touch of olive oil and Italian spices. Out of this world! The sandwiches are large and beautifully prepared as well. Dinners are large portions and so, so delicious. Go for the spaghetti and meatballs. Wow! Such delicious sauce and noodles cooked to perfection. The meatballs are tender and tasty. If all of the great food isn’t enough to draw you in – there’s more. The family that runs this place are some of the nicest people I have ever met. They are so friendly and genuinely appreciate your business. You will feel right at home as you settle in for your delicious and lovingly prepared lunch or dinner. I can’t say enough about this place. Give it a try the next time you are looking around Clearwater for a nice meal.
