Set sail with me on the voyage into the great spicy tuna roll legend. Araya what now is a spin off of Fuji Sushi Restaurant located on Naples Blvd has lived up to the expectations that Fuji has delivered throughout the years and so much more. Both owners Jon and On have truly built a great reputation for their establishments in the very competitive Naples Sushi/Thai food industry.Today, I ventured in for what I knew would be a big lunch because I opted in for the Bento box with the Spicy Tuna Roll and Chicken Pad Thai. Myself and fellow reviewer George T. opted in for the same sushi rolls because as we sat at the sushi bar where Sushi Chef Jon was preparing to break down a large piece of tuna he just got from his local market. I must say it was the freshest tuna I had ever tasted in a spicy tuna roll and I couldn’t believe I was eating sushi in a restaurant outside of Asia. The sweet to spicy ratios were spot on. The Chicken Pad Thai is the best I have tasted in the Naples area, the only thing that I could have requested was a little lime just to help bring out more of the flavors which is a preference of mine but I was already so elated by the Spicy Tuna Roll that the Pad Thai was the least of my worries. At $13 the portion and quality of these Bento Boxes can’t be found anywhere else in Naples at that value. The service and exchanges were very good especially with the Sushi Chef Jon at the bar. George T., who is Thai himself, was also very happy with the overall experience of this place and thanked me several times for making the recommendation on such short notice. As social media gurus, we did take advantage of the Facebook check in for a $2 small sake which was just perfect with the overall meal. Social media marketing is a huge part of the reason why this new location has boomed full so quickly. Its popularity has lended itself to reservations being highly recommended. It’s hard to believe that this place was once a Dunkin Donuts. They did a great job converting the space into a casual atmosphere with an upscale contemporary appeal. Being seated at the Sushi bar, I could see behind the counter and the over cleanliness was very impressive. They have multiple TVs throughout the place for those husbands who get dragged out to sushi when that important game is on. I recall the bathroom in this place was very nice and clean on my past visit. To the mention of Dunkin Donuts, I was craving something a little sweet after the meal. On Jon’s recommendation, I was pleased to have tried the Green Tea Creme Brulee. The brulee was nice and light with the perfect bitterness of the tea with a nice creaminess of the cream. After recently having tried a couple new sushi places in town and comparing the experiences I had, I really doubt I will venture into the others very often unless invited. There are other places in town who deliver a similar quality and experience but not for the value the Fuji Sushi and Araya Sushi Asian Grill delivers. This place is a solid 5 star! misterswfl.com
