This is a terrific room: homey and intimate without feeling crowded. The Osso Bucco special was delicious. I had the sea bass with a light lemon sauce that had a beautiful balance of flavors. The gnocchi with meat sauce was a shining example of true comfort food. Great staff, great wine list ya got to check it out!
Some of the best veal dishes I’ve had in a long time. Great restaurant.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS. We arrived at five-fifty-two PM with dinner coupons, from the Naples Daily News, giving us free entrees with each paid selection. Our waiter appeared to have supervisory authority as he was quick to tell us that we were too late for the coupons, (honoring their fifteenth anniversary). We checked our documents and found no small print that said that arriving within ten minutes of the deadline made our paper null and void. Despite having English as his second language, and being unable to explain the discrepancy, he was resolute, awkwardly saying that their kitchen was somehow unable to handle our half-price orders. We were hungry and it was cold outside, so we decided to stay. We had to ask for the complimentary bread basket and water. My Vodka Penne was, at best, unremarkable. This place, in it’s fifteenth year, is small, and on our arrival had a number of empty tables, making accomodating us seemingly well within their abilities, if not their inclinations. We do not wish any restaurant bad times, but in this economy, why offer a coupon, if you are, under arbitrary circumstances, unwilling to honor it.? Panevino, in it’s remaining months of existence, can count four less patrons who will EVER pass through their inhospitable doors. I sent a letter to the Naples Daily News and will add a notice to the Better Business Bureau.
Rather disappointing. The servers are not charming and the prices are too high. I tried the caprese salad (good), veal genovese (ok, but it arrived cold with too much sauce which tasted mostly of flour), the small amount of sauted vegetables with garlic were very good; the portion size for the veal was enormous. The waiter said they served German Chocolate Cale so I ordered some. I was served a large piece of chocolate layer cake which was rather stale, drizzled with Hershey’s syrup. It was so bad that I couldn’t eat it. Thank goodness we ate there in August with a 50% off coupon. This restaurant might have been good in the past, but i’ll never go back there.
