Fresh, Locally Sourced, Creative Cuisine in Modern, Unpretentious Environment – Great for Foodies and Socially Conscious Diners. The Local is literally the only restaurant in Naples at which I have found locally-sourced, creatively prepared cuisine offered in a hip, yet unpretentious environment. Family owned, and professionally managed, it’s a refreshing alternative to Naples typical restaurant fair. It’s less Tommy Bahama or 5th Ave. wannabe, and more like something you would find in trendy Uptown Minneapolis, or Portland Oregon’s artsy NW neighborhood. With a menu that changes slightly each day according to locally available ingredients, The Local offers a full range of freshly prepared options for both vegetarians and meat/fish lovers. My favorites so far have been the Cobia, Gazpacho, Parmesan Fries, Kale cake and Vegetarian Flat bread. My husband is fond of their Pork Shoulder. I have just started eating beef again, but for health and ethical reasons, I only eat responsibly raised meat. I can’t wait to try the grass-fed beef dishes at The Local. The Local is located near the corner of Pineridge and Airport Pulling Rd in an unassuming strip mall. But don’t let its vanilla location fool you. Creativity seeps not only through the simple, yet whimsical decor, but also into the anything but ordinary menu items. I love that instead of bread and butter, they serve fresh veggies and gourmet white-bean dip as a preamble to dinner. Of course, I’m sure bread and butter is also available for those who desire it. As a side note when I have gone there, the restaurant has always been clean, which is super important to me. In terms of service, the staff is low-key, friendly, ‘real’ and eager to please. Most of the times I have dined at The Local their front of house manager stops by our table to ask us if everything is going well. It’s a nice touch – makes us feel welcome and important.

Mediocre, rude waitress. I had lunch with family on a Friday afternoon at the local. I felt the food was mediocre and over priced. My salad was good. My fish and the soup were bad. What turned me off the most and motivated my review was the rude waitress. I lunched with my elderly mother who suffers from dementia. She was upset this day by the hospitalization of her husband. The waitress was very impatient with her. I realized at that moment that many people must treat my mom this way because she is slow and appears confused. The thing is, many people in naples are older, so she may encounter this type of patron again. Maybe that waitress will read this and show a little compassion next time.
Went for lunch and was not that great. Had the spelt salad with blackened fish. The fish was not great (strong fish Oder )my husbands italian beef sandwich was so tuff couldn’t eat it. Our waitres was really rude like we were bother her when we ask questions abouth the menu. It was our first time here and the last! Wish we went to steamers next door. It was packed with people and the local had just a few people!
Best surprise of the weekend- a local place, plenty of parking with a healthy, organic and farm to table menu. Homemade pasta, plenty of vegan and gluten free options PLUS lots of hearty, healthy food as well. It’s hard to chose from all the tempting options on the menu but our party of 3 all raved about our choices which ranged from lamb to flatbread pizza, to spinach Gorgonzola fettuccine. The staff we met, including the sous chef were all passionate about providing exception service and food. They did NOT disappoint. Rave review – can’t wait to tell my family and friends about this place. Don’t miss the lemon candy on the way out!
We went there recently with 4 people & we all agreed it was quite good. We got great service & our waiter was very knowledgeable about each dish & wines. We each ordered something different & everyone was happy with their food. Most dishes were quite tastey. Humus was so so. Yes it is not cheap, but you have to expect to pay more for organic food. I’m glad to have this choice.
We have been wanting to check this place out since they were first established, and so my daughter and I came for a girls-day lunch. I had to ask for seats to be wiped down as they had crumbs all over both booth seats. We waited 15 minutes for anyone to even come over and offer us a drink. It appears the manage on duty was a blonde lady who continually looked over at us, saw no one had greeted us, and just continued to banter with someone sitting at their small bar. Finally we were able to order, yet we sat another 5 minutes before waters were even brought to us.-20 minutes now just for 2 waters. The menu looks wonderful with fresh and healthy choices and the decor had a hip modern twist. If only they knew how to connect the service to the vibe…if only they had a true manager setting a standard for their service. From the time we came in and finally received our food-for a place that only had 7 tables sat-it took 50 minutes for one small salad, one personal pizza, and one sandwich. It’s unfortunate. The veggie sandwich had excellent fresh veggies, yet was placed on a regular hamburger bun-and cost $12!! Ridiculous prices just add to the less than pleasurable trip to this restaurant. Great decor, good location, and above average quality of food-but the service made this trip one we won’t make again.
