  This gem was a pleasant surprise. We are not from the area and stopped here for lunch for a quick bite before driving up north. Well, it was truly fantastic. Amazing northern Italian food. We are Italian and have travelled all over Italy and this place is the real deal. I ordered a cup of soup and a side order of broccoli rabe and my husband ordered lunch seafood pasta. It was a feast! When I received the cup of soup I actually had to clarify several times if it was a cup because it was what most restaurants would serve as a bowl. I can’t imagine how big the bowl was. The food was fresh, perfectly flavored, and the seafood was tender. The whole meal was sublime for what was expected to be a quick stop. The bill was only $22 – My husband stated that we have spent over $100 on meals far worse. Only a few notes: the service was adequate, but indeed slow in bringing us the bill. The decor is quaint, albeit dated and cluttered. Finally, the side of broccoli rabe had sausage in it. This was completely unexpected and while it was wonderful, I ordered it because I am currently on a vegan diet. The recipe need not be changed, but the menu should better describe the dish. It wouldn’t have occurred to me to ask the server if there was meat in a side of broccoli.

  The food is usually really good. The service has been trying to get better now that the lady in the front has calmed down. The service is usually very slow, get ready to spend some time. They do have some good meal deals.

  Don’t Choke Here You Just Might Die!. I took my daughter to Broccolini’s Cafe for dinner on Thursday night, we had been here before but the experience that we were about to have would change my life forever. The waitress came to our table to take our orders and recommended the Veal Chop special to me several times so I went with it! The Veal chop was topped with mushrooms and cheese and underneath was spinach which apparently was a big whole piece. I took one bite of the veal chop and the spinach underneath lodged in my throat followed by the piece of veal.I immediately started choking while my daughter and fiance looked in horror. As time slowed down I removed the spinach from my throat and could observe that no one was moving they all stood and watched! I immediately started to Heimlich myself until the food dislodged on the floor. The owner /hostess came over to me and her first words were I’m sorry I was on the phone with a customer! Are you freaking kidding me? Both my fiance and daughter were hysterical at this time having seen me come as close to death as one could!Th owner came over again and we asked for the check, to make matters worse she asked me if I wanted her to wrap the veal chop? Yes the one that almost killed me! This woman as a serious social problem just to as that question. I then asked her if anyone was trained in the Heimlich technique? She disappeared into the back and trotted out our waitress who was visibly shaken and then claimed to be on her way! Sweetheart by the time you would have arrived I would have died! Thank g-d I am a physician who has had to perform the Heimlich on others to save their life because it saved mine!!To add insult to injury and show not one ounce of compassion or caring the owner charged us half price for the veal chop that had one bite in it and almost killed me.I am grateful to be alive to share this review and warn those who put money into peoples pockets who care nothing about the customer. Also make sure if you do go that you find the person on staff that does know emergency procedures just in case!
