Overpriced and Mediocre. Went to dinner at Route 9 on a Saturday night in November, typically a busy time in South Florida. Plenty of tables available probably because food is overpriced. The menu is interesting but the food itself was mediocre. Beer and wine list is good but also overpriced. Route 9 is trying to offer the look and feel of a small NY restaurant but the food does not deliver.
Great Find!!!. Just had lunch here for the first time and enjoyed Great Food and Very Friendly Service!!! Will be back…
Long, long wait for food!. My husband and I read a favorable newspaper review of Route 9 restaurant in Coral Gables, Fl. so we decided to try it. What a disappointment! We arrived at 7:40 p.m. and ordered our food by 7:45 pm. After a long wait we were told that our order had been lost and were asked what we had ordered. A few minutes later they told us that the order had not been lost after all and that the food was coming soon. We left the restaurant at 8:35 without ever having been served our food. The restaurant did offer us a complimentary glass of wine and did not charge us for the two glasses of wine we had ordered with our food. However, we did not go there to drink, we went there eat! Got there hungry and left hungrier!
The veal chop was excellent18 Feb, 2012The specials of the day were very good. The dessert was great as well as the service. They should dim the lights a little. Will come back.
Started well…. Ok, so we ordered the tomato soup to start and it was good. We also ordered the pepper stuffed with smoked fish. The smoked fish was exquisite. The pepper was stone cold. I ordered the fish tacos and they were extremely bland. Needed salt, pepper, spice, herbs, something! That also came out with a salsa and it was completely bland as well. My friend had the chicken with macncheese. The chicken was flavorful but the mac was bland as well. I saw a lot of seniors dining there which I have not problem with but I just wondered if that was because of the foods blandness?? Who knows! I think they need to pack bigger flavor punches to their food!
Route 9 is a nice neighborhood Restaurant. I liked Route 9. The food was good. We started with a charcuterie plate (assorted). We were kind of disappointed assorted didn’t include at least one cheese or a pate. The meats and pickled items where tasty except for the genoa salami which didn’t look that appetizing. The mini meatballs were very good. The snapper was delicious. The blackberry cobbler was really great but needed ice cream to make it perfect. The place is a bit loud, but a fun time. Would go back.
Have been back 3 times and just read the New Times review. I usually agree with Lee Klein but not about Route 9. I dined at the CIA- this is better.
