First Time/BirthdayDinner. I went to Benihanas in Coral Springs on a Thursday night for my birthday with a party of 4 plus my infant daughter in a stroller. We did not make a reservation so it was a 20 minute wait for a hibachi table which wasnt a long wait compared to other restaurants on University Dr. when you arrive without a reservation. I printed out my $30 coupon that I received in my email from signing up with the chefs table. For my first time having someone cook in front of me, had a chef with great charisma, great show kept us all attentive it was well worth the $25, (I didnt even use up the whole $30 on myself). Spicy Chicken hibachi was $19 and my frozen strawberry drink was $5.75. Regular drinks were 2.99. My mother asked for the filet mion which was $25 and my brother must have had the most expensive out of all of us which was the trio shrimp, chicken and steak for about $35. Our waiter was very nice, the only thing I can say is it would take a little longer than usual to get drinks and refills but I would see him all over the place with other tables and it didnt bother me much thats just how most restaurants always are, maybe a bit understaffed and im not going to die if i dont get my drink in .5 seconds. Our Chef Joshua was amazing, so funny there was not a dull moment during the entire presentation. Along with our meals included was a small bowl of onion soup with bits of mushroom, a small bowl of salad and a hibachi shrimp appetizer which consisted of about 7-8 shrimp. After that he began his show making everyones rice and meat of choice. The food was great although im glad I chose the spicy chicken because it was juicier with more flavor, i tried some of my moms filet migon and It taste like regular steak although im NOT a fan of steak so dont take my word for that. The chicken and shrimp though were great! If you dont like sitting with people you dont know i would suggest going with a party of 8 because the table fits 8. I didnt mind, we sat with a couple that was celebrating an anniversary and two women who went for dinner. After our meal was done and we said goodbye to our chef the hostess and waiter came back and offered us free icecream (2 free for my party of 4), and the couple and two women would also get two free icecream bowls. They came back with the icecream sang me their version of happy birthday, and sang an anniversary song in chinese for the couple then took a picture of them and my family as well. They printed the picture for us at the end for free. The total bill was $105 ( $35 trio/$3 drink/ $3 chicken fried rice) ($25 filet migon/$3 drink/ $3 veg fried rice) ($19 spicy hibachi/$3 drink/ $3 chicken fried rice) theres an $8 i cant remember what for, and the 15% suggested tip was $19– keep in mind my spicy hibachi chicken and drink were free with my coupon. I find this to be a decent priced restaurant if you want to try something different for a special occasion. Last year we took my mother to Texas de Brazil, Brazilian Steak House in Fort Lauderdale for $50 per person, for no special show, mostly undercooked meat when we kept asking for well done and drinks where not included our bill was over $200 and was not worth it. So I definitley recommend this restaurant and ask for Joshua!

I’ll never go back to Benihana. in Ft Lauderdale.. Had planned a birthday dinner for a friend. From the start it was a terrible experience. They did not have our reservation. Seated everyone who walked in door before us. Squeezed us into a table where we couldn’t move. The chef started cooking 1 1/2 hours later. He was so slow the food was over cooked. Took food off people’s plates put on others to even out servings. Repulsive. We were there almost 3 hours. Management was very unsympathetic. I WILL NEVER GO BACK!
