Not Authentic Cooked German Food, Salty, Rude Manager, Decent German Store. When I entered this establishment it looked like a very cute little German pub/restaurant. I went to the front counter looking at the German marzipan chocolates heaped up in front of the register and man behind the counter (who I later found out was Brandon the manager) started telling me how much he hated the marzipan chocolates and how he took a bite into one and threw it out his car window. If you are a manager of a German store and restaurant why would you speak like this to a customer of German descent about your own products you are trying to sell?We decided to stay anyway and had some of the cooked food. It was reheated or microwaved and not authentic German food. Lunch was presented on a faded, cheap wooden plate and the German potato salad (not good) and sauerkraut were in small plastic cups. I grew up with good cooked German food and have eaten in authentic German restaurants. The sauerkraut was so salty, they probably don’t know you have to wash it before cooking it. I paid around $13 for my lunch. I was already upset about the manager’s behavior and this was like icing on the cake for this visit. I didn’t even finish my Spaten draft. I mentioned the manager’s behavior to the waitress and she said it wouldn’t do any good to complain to the owner as he has been there a long time. This place has a nice little German store with various rye breads, herring, chocolates and landjger. We tried a couple of the landjger and they were good but pricy $6 for 2 short sticks. It appears like they have quite a few German beers on tap.I would not recommend the restaurant or the cooked food.
Great Produce, Rude Service. Excellent selection of beers, nice bread and sausages. I love the international candy selection. But have you ever been served by the hairy dude with his hat on backwards? He scowls and barks with distaste at customers. I have watched him upset some people needlessly.
I like this place a lot. Best beer selection I have seen anywhere. Prefer a grilled Reuben instead of their toasted, but that is a small deal.
The food is SO delicious, the deli meats MELT in your mouth. Also great service! Had warm apple cider for the first time, yummy. Been there about 5 times.
The new Pumpernickel bread.. My wife and I had our first really bad sandwich Thursday evening @ Daytona Dunderbaks. They switched to a no name bakery and the pumpernickel bread was dry and non descriptive. When I hear they switch back to Pepperridge bakery, we’ll go back.
Surprised. It was in the mall, but a very surprising hole in the wall. I loved it.
Excellent place. Does any mall have a gem such as this?! Tucked in the corner of the mall it doesn’t look like much at first, but it is a wonderful place. Once you get inside you feel instantly cozy, lots of decor on the wall. The food is superb, I usually get the Roast Beef Au Jus and it is unbelievably good. There are of course tons of import beers that you can’t usually get at most bars and its fun just trying new brews. I usually tell the bartender what beers I like and let them get me something I’ve never heard of or had that they say is similiar. Service is great, ambiance is unique and nice, and the beer selection unmatched. LOVE THIS PLACE!
