Offensive and Rude Manager. We stopped at Cafe Med for drinks and a snack this afternoon. To our surprise the Wyndham had taken over this restaurant and the bar and converted the bar into a downscale burger place. The restaurants are totally open and connected and owned and operated by the hotel. We ordered drinks at the bar at Cafe Med and decided to try the food from the burger place in the same location. we took our food and drinks outside to an outdoor table and proceeded to enjoy the comfortable weather with cocktails and snacks and quiet conversation. While seated there we were rudely scolded by a restaurant manager for eating in the wrong place. In fact, we spent money in both restaurants. This nasty woman proceeded to treat us as though we had brought our McDonalds food and ate it in her restaurant. We paid for food in both locales and shouldn’t have been treated to a scolding when we should have been thanked for spending our dollars there when many other choices were close by. Not a nice way to end what should have been a pleasant experience.
Not your best bet. My family has eaten at Cafe Med a few times. Not again. Earlier visits were marred by the music put out by the [too-loud] roving Italian minstrel and mediocre service. But, since I live just up the street, and Mother’s Day was approaching I thought I’d give it t a try for a Mother’s Day brunch with Mom. About 5 days before Mother’s Day, I went on Open Table and booked an 11am reservation for Mother’s Day. Yesterday, the day before mother’s Day, I got a call from the manager to inform me that Open Table had goofed up and allowed the reservation to go through even though Cafe Med had asked them not to. I pointed out that this put me in a bad spot – that the likelihood of securing another 11am reservations at another beachfront restaurant was unlikely. While he apologized – I pointed out that this was really a choice that Cafe Med was making irrespective of the Open Table issue. There was no overbooking complication or anything mentioned – rather that they just didn’t think it was a good day to accept reservations and had advised Open Table of that decision earlier. Personally – I doubt that Open Table goofed up at all – but instead think that Cafe Med just decided they could squeeze more folks in for Mother’s Day without reservations – something that dawned on them the day before. This is one of those restaurant locations that seems cursed – a location where restaurant after restaurant the mediocrity of food, service, and operation become the dominant themes instead of the opportunity that exists to provide a quality dining experience in a pretty nice setting. Anyway – the way I look at it – they could have honored my reservation, or not. Pretty simple. They chose not to in the end, and so I choose not to go back, and recommend others exercise their option to give their business to other nearby dining options where there’s some integrity in their operations.
FridayFoodBloggers: Wonderful Experience at Cafe Med. Every Friday night my date and I visit a restaurant we’ve never been to before. 5/2/14 My night to pick. I chose Cafe Med because of its beautiful location and ocean front view. I was expecting the prices to be high but after looking up the menu on-line the prices seemed too go to be true. The hostess was very pleasant and friendly. We had a lovely seat outside looking out onto the ocean and a good place to people watch. Our waiter Nick was extremely accommodating to our dinning experience were I like to take my time and not rush through the meal. The family size portions were huge, my date and I only made it though 1/4 of the dish and the flavor and quality was above and beyond as well! Other highlights about Cafe Med was the guitar player singing and joking with us at our table and the head chef, Tulio, personally introducing himself and inquiring about our meal. Even the hostess asked us how we are enjoying ourselves. Definitely will be returning to dine at Cafe Med again -coming from a real Italian!
Not bad, love the Mediterranean style Italian. Had the mussels in marinara which were delish. Enjoyed the starter tapenade trio. My husband loved the meatballs. Mom had chicken Milanese salad. Decent pricing for being right on the water. Overall nothing too outstanding, didn’t have a bad time but probably won’t be back
Nice location, place needs help. This was my second time having dinner at this great location on Deerfield beach. Walking into the place, the host for a short period of time ignored our party of four, but no big deal. We were greeted by a very friendly waitress and soon after her counter part waiter. The Veal was not good. Stay away from that one. But the rest of the dishes were very good. One would think however that if you turned away a dish, that the manager would have supplied an optional desert or at least coffee at no charge. That was a disappointment..Would we come back? Not sure at this point. The first visit was so much better when they first opened. The place needs better management and the staff needs better training. I however would say that the bar area is probably the most productive and has the atmosphere that is lacking in the main restaurant.
Free Beer?. Went by Cafe Med this weekend. They had a sign outside that said FREE BEER. The place was deserted. The bartender told me that it was free if you bought your first beer so it is really just there 2 for 1 happy hour. i give the guy a little credit by using his imagination however i saw it as the place is so bad they can’t even give away FREE BEER which I found very funny. I left and had lunch at JB’s. The beer wasn’t free but at least the restaurant was busy and the food was good.
AWSOME. I love Cafe Med!!!! Everyone ther was so kind and made me feel right at home from the second i walked in until i left. The food was delicious and the presentation was beautiful. We started off at the bar but then went for dinner. we shared a Quatro Formaggio pizza and it was the best i had ever tasted. For the main entre i had the gnoochi and it was very flavorful and i absolutly loved it. The service that Cafe Med provides was very friendly and attentive and the managers are extremely nice. I Will be bringing all of my friends here and i cant wait to go back.
