This place has fantastic seafood, presentation and chefs, but the service is poor and the management is nonexistent. We are in the food industry and could not believe the fly problem they have for their outside dining. We had a couple of bites of our crab cake before it became infested with flies, then a fly in one glass of wine, entrees about two bites of cod sandwich and grilled octopus, but the flies just covered it. Waiter was smart mouthed and when the manager finally came out he was not at all accommodating. We really felt ripped off and our food went back before we could take photos. But, we did go behind and found the sources of flies, piled up linens and open dumpster and kitchen door. Disgusting. No call, Health Department.
Inconsistent…again. We went to Racks a second time and while the restaurant has a nice vibe, interior, and service, our experience on the second visit also had inconsistent food quality. Both times there were four of us and we had probably a total of 6-7 different dishes each time, some good and some not so good.
Great spot on the Avenue!. I had only visited Racks for drinks but last weekend we decided to dine there to see how the food was and it truly was great! TI ordered the beet salad which was excellent followed by the salmon dish. Cooked perfectly! Everything about the evening there was excellent.
