Service was great! Food was ok. Your typical fried seafood. My family enjoyed the oysters on the half shell. The kids Meals come with a frisbee to take home which the kids enjoyed.
Since we only live about an hour and a half from Destin, we dine in the area often. We use to go to the Back Porch years ago, but the quality of the food had steadily declined over the years-as do a lot of tourist fed restaurants. Our usual seafood lunch area was closed, so based on other reviews, we decided to give The Back Porch another try. It was lunch in Labor Day and it was pretty busy. Finding to find a parking place was difficult but totally worth it! I had the fish fingers, my husband had the grilled grouper sandwich, and our daughter had the cheeseburger. All the food was delicious! My fish fingers could have used a little more spice but was still good. I also had the onion rings and they were very good. We now have a new lunch place in Destin!
I ordered the popcorn shrimp basket, the shrimp were very good the hush puppies were just a little dry.also order the mahi mahi and it was outstanding to my surprise it was overall all very good.
I thought I would hate this place. It’s everything I can’t stand: touristy, crowded, mass produced. But i have to say: I really liked it. Our server was a bit brash, but attentive. The food, however, won me over. My husband had the amber jack sandwich. It was spicy and delicious. He subbed the onion rings which were also wonderful. Per the sever recommendation I had the stuffed shrimp. They were fantastic. I normally never order anything I cook at home but so happy I did – quite delicious. We arrive early (5:10) and got seated right away. Oh! And the blue cheese for the salad was wonderful. I would go back – and still surprised I feel this way!
This is one of the few places we have to stop at every summer when we come to Destin. It’s a really cool spot with a great view of the water. The food is good and the Pina Coladas are some of the best I’ve had. The oysters we had this time around, however, were very grimey and sandy like they hadn’t been rinsed off at all. Over all a great experience though.
The back porch is pretty touristy, but for 10 people, they accommodated us very well! We were sat in about 30 minutes which was not bad at all (especially when you can hang out on the beach and wait there) and our waitress was nice enough to let my 20 year old self order off the kid’s menu (shhh!) and my food came on a frisbee that we used to play with for the rest of the trip! I was lame and went with chicken tenders but they hit the spot! Everyone else in the group had different types of seafood but the thing that stood out was the oysters, WOW YUM!
We had a friendly server but he never refilled our drinks.. The food was good especially the amberjack fish, however the crab cakes were overly breaded and the crab was not in big chunks but shredded..( eat your crab cakes in Baltimore ). The smoked tuna appetizer was very good but the seafood chowder was just ok, definitely not the best I’ve ever eaten. Atmosphere was fun.
