I was highly disappointed with my recent experience at Callahans…. I’m a local and have grown up in Destin. I’ve been coming to Callahans for almost twenty years. Since they were on holiday isle. I was treated very rudely by the assistant manager named Jill. When I spoke to the owner named Suzanne she was apologetic and offered to remedy the situation. When I came back the same assistant manager named Jill approached me and brought the incident up. I found it highly unprofessional. I was horrified at her behavior. When I told her that I had mentioned the past incident to manager, only to defend myself, she said that Suzanne did not believe me about the incident. Whether Suzanne did or did not believe me doesn’t matter at this point. This post is because her assistant manager is berating customers. I did not approach the assistant manager and can not believe she would verbally attack a customer. I will no longer recommend this restaurant to any friends, family or tourist in fear that they will come under the wrath of this highly unprofessional assistant manager (Jill). It saddens me to join a long list of locals who feel that this Destin classic is no longer the experience it used to be.
Best Reuben I have ever had. It’s so good I don’t order Reuben’s from anywhere else than Callahans. I have been eating at Callahans for over 10 years and it remains one of the best Destin eating spots on my list.
The wait was over 30 minutes just for lunch! To sit down! Also it took another 30 plus minutes to get our food so we asked for bread or something. We got crackers which is perfectly fine but…… They were stale! Finally after an hour plus of waiting we got our food but it was not worth the wait. So disappointed because we took up a ton of our day.

Disappointed. Used to dine at their old location back in the 90’s and thought the food was the bomb. Now it’s nothing special. Servings not huge like back in the day. Reuben sandwich had mustard on it; must be a southern thang? Tea tasted instant (sacrilegious in the south) and getting a refill took waitress forever. Visit Destin often, won’t bother again. To bad, used to be locals secret gem. Sold out to the tourists!
Meh…. Had the fried seafood platter, asked if the seafood was local, told yes… It was all frozen and bland. Peeled back the heavy breading to reveal pink colored shrimp that could only be frozen (no local gulf shrimp would look like this). To top it off, my drink was never refilled after reaching the bottom.
